Kreider would literally pick Matt Martin up and throw him into Halak.

Kreider is a good young player. Liked him since you guys drafted him when he came into his own in the playoffs. He's a great power forward and could develop into something even more but I agree with what you just said minus the him being stronger part. Maybe some day but not yet. Martin is a beast.

problem with Kreider is he literally is bat poop crazy, and that may be more of a problem for other players in the league than it is for himself
- jimbro83

It may be? The way the league is today he might be able to explore his crazy side further? If it was twenty years ago someone would set him straight pretty quick.

True, Martin(my favorite Islander) is probably stronger, Clutterbuck and Carkner I dont think so. Either way, if he had to tangle with any of those guys, Kreider loses.

I know you cant stand him now, but imagine if Prust was still here and taught Kreider how to fight.

if Prust ever was a Ranger again, I could very easily forget what happened

Did you just order tickets to the next Rangers Islanders game so you can see Chris Kreider end your favorite player's career?

it's amazing that somebody that big and strong as Kreider is is as fast as he is too, along with great hands.

He is what baseball always has referred to as a 5 tool player, he is going to explode this year. The playoffs were just the beginning.

I was trying to think of that the other day, a power foward as big and strong as him with similar speed. I couldn't come up with anyone.

How do you guys think the special teams lines will shake out? Could be an interesting blog topic to write about Jan since there isn't much else hockey news coming out.

Logic would dictate McDonagh and Boyle on the points on the first unit, but who would be the forwards? MSL and Stepan seem like locks but do you put Nash or Kreider as that final forward? I like Kreider being placed in front of the net a lot more than any of Nash, MSL, or Stepan but I'd also love to see Nash on that unit.

Maybe move McDonagh to the 2nd PP unit and have Boyle and MSL on the points with Stepan and Nash at the circles and Kreider in front of the net? It probably won't be a popular suggestion to move McDonagh off of there but that proposed unit could be lethal and it would cut down on McDonagh's minutes a little which would be a positive.

Second unit could be Brassard, Zuccarello, McDonagh, Girardi and then maybe Miller in front of the net.

As for the PK units, AV said he plans on using Glass on one of the units so Stepan, Hagelin, Glass, Moore, Nash, and Zuccarello could all eat up the shorthanded time.

Kreider wouldn't fight Martin, he'd be to busy doing what he does best.

He wont be shooting on Poulin or Nabby to pad his stats.

Honestly there are very few players in the league who would. Many heavy weights have opted out of fights with Martin.

After Kreider takes out Halak he may be shooting on Poulin.

I think we need to look at the situation of whether or not JT Miller can replace Brad Richards production. As overpaid as he was, Richards was still good for ~50 points. Can Miller reach that total in what will likely be his first rookie season? The obvious answer is probably not.

But, I think that's the wrong question. The correct question should be can MSL and Miller's combined production come close to, equal, or surpass Richards and Callahan's combined production. I think the answer to that is that they have to potential to at least come close to it if not surpass it.

One of the biggest knocks of the Rangers offseason is that they haven't found a replacement for Richards' points. But those same critics forget that we now have a full season of MSL. Our top 9 is the same as last year's only with Miller in for Richards and MSL in for Cally, with Miller being a probable downgrade to Richards and MSL being an upgrade to Callahan. I think the deficit in Miller and Richards point production will be made up by the surplus in MSL and Callahan's production.

Add in the fact that Boyle will definitely outproduce Stralman and the new depth forwards should do AT LEAST as good as Brian "Uncapable of Scoring" Boyle and I think we're in pretty good shape production-wise, especially if John Moore and Ryan McDonagh develop more offensively and Nash regains his scoring form.
