I suggested the Grim Keeper Reaper, but that one didn't seem to catch on.

There was a point a few years back when hearing the name "Sean Avery" in a blog made me want to jam hotsticks in my eyes, because there was entirely too much talk about Sean Avery. I feel that way about advanced stats rights now. I realize their utility. I don't deny they are useful. But, god oh mighty, the amount of discourse about them right now in the hockey world is just over the top.

I wonder what percentage of hockey fans actually like discussing advanced stats, or whether there is just a natural inclination to defend your blogger if they are advanced stats proponents -- i.e., I don't think all Rangers fans hate advanced stats, and I don't think all Lightning and Devils fans love them.

Personally, I used to like reading pieces on advanced stats (particularly from Glen), but not just the mere mention of them makes me want to set myself on fire. Sorry Glen.

Yeah, I was going to jump in the devils blog and back jimbro up, but I didn't feel like getting banned again. If fancy stats were as awesome as people like Cordell and Stuart make them out to be, Gordie Clarke and people like him would be out of a job. Gms could just all get together at Gary's house and draft from their iPads fantasy football style.

I am almost entirely with you (I believe in the Caps as well), although this is a real tough season to call, with alot of teams having good chances to make the playoffs. I say both WC come from the Metro, so the first five teams below make it.

Pitt
Rangers
Caps
Blue Jackets
Islanders
Philly
New Jersey
Carolina

I'm not at all convinced that an OV/Trotz mix will work at all.

Brandon Sutter has re-signed with the Penguins for two years. The deal will pay him an average of $3.3 million per season.

I think it's a great signing for philly. DZ will put up 30+ this year.

He will add some much needed mobility. Not sure he's in a great situation though. Flyers may have the worst defense in the NHL.

My theory, he likes reading his own name in written documents when he does well. If he concentrated on hockey as much as he did on blocking people on twitter, he'd still be a Ranger.

I think he should have been signed by now but let's pump the brakes on him putting up 30+, I think he'll be motivated and that's always good to have, NYI should have signed him but then again they should have traded for Bishop instead of Clutterbuck

when you look at Cap Geek and look at the Flyers, it's truly amazing how much money they spend on their blueline. Not one home grown defenseman, and pretty much all of them way overpaid.
