Kimmo Timonen has blood clots in his right leg and lungs. “His return to play is yet to be determined.”

Apparently this isn't the first time in his career either. Might be smart for him to be safe and walk away.

wonder if they are a candidate to pick up Del Zotto. Flyers cap situation is wacky though.

I am almost entirely with you (I believe in the Caps as well), although this is a real tough season to call, with alot of teams having good chances to make the playoffs. I say both WC come from the Metro, so the first five teams below make it.

Pitt
Rangers
Caps
Blue Jackets
Islanders
Philly
New Jersey
Carolina

I just read this write up. And, I would like to point out that despite the Rangers winning 18 playoff games and Columbus only winning 2 since the trade, people constantly act like we got raped in July of 2012

Great minds think alike

I really do think that any team can make the playoffs in this division including Carolina. It will be wide open.

Only reason I think we will take the division is because Pitt could very well go the first quarter of the season playing barely .500 hockey while adjusting to the coach similar to us last year. They also have 2 of their defenders out long-term and I'm not sold on their new and "vastly improved" bottom 6. Craig Adams is still on the 4th line and one injury (I'm looking at you Downie) and they need to fill in a Vitale/Glass-like plug alongside Adams.

You know, for all the crap Ek takes, and rightfully so, he does have his pulse on the Flyers, historically speaking. The Flyers are the one organization that I actually put some stock into what Ek has to say.

I don't think anyone would hate on him so much if he just changed the name of the site to "FlyersBuzz" Cause that is what it is mostly on his part.

I still remember that day. I was at work surrounded by all Flyers fans, I thought the apocalypse was happening. Everyone was freaking out. I was laughing my arse off.

There was a point a few years back when hearing the name "Sean Avery" in a blog made me want to jam hotsticks in my eyes, because there was entirely too much talk about Sean Avery. I feel that way about advanced stats rights now. I realize their utility. I don't deny they are useful. But, god oh mighty, the amount of discourse about them right now in the hockey world is just over the top.

I wonder what percentage of hockey fans actually like discussing advanced stats, or whether there is just a natural inclination to defend your blogger if they are advanced stats proponents -- i.e., I don't think all Rangers fans hate advanced stats, and I don't think all Lightning and Devils fans love them.

Personally, I used to like reading pieces on advanced stats (particularly from Glen), but not just the mere mention of them makes me want to set myself on fire. Sorry Glen.

Well, we are 2-2. Need that rubber match.

That's a good point -- let the next be the end all be all. Hopefully it takes place this year in the ECF (Even though it'd take a lot for that to happen, one of us getting 4th in the Atlantic and taking down title), followed by us winning it all?

I know this has to have been brewing in the whole off season. Love how we're finally not talking about that for a bit Pete and you bring up your hatred for them.

Looking at our first overall draft picks in the last few years, we definitely don't do that right so I'm not worried. Guys will fill spots in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th round like they've been doing for us. Only way we'll figure out round 1 is if we pick in the top 9. Let's face it, we even (frank)ed up when we picked 10th overall.

Got no problem with the advance stats, Nick. It reminds me of that old bumpersticker slogan, "Jesus its not you I hate, it's your followers" or something like that.
