I don't think someone laughing at him would affect him that much as Gorges don't seem to be a little girl about things. Plus not like Frazer went all out trying to actually fight Gorges with his full ability either, so that was pretty nice of him.

I give credit to Lucic cause he usually backs it up, but that was a mega wussy moment for him.

I'm torn.He wants to run around like the toughest SOB in the league then he should fight the champ. On the other hand, there's no benefit to the team to him fighting a 3 minute player (unless he wins then everyone in the league fears him forever)

$8 million per for 7 years? Yikes. Is this level of pay a bit premature or are we sure we are looking at a bonafide stud that can bring it year in and year out?

Short answer, yes.

He's probably worth 7M per for the next 2 years (restricted free agent). The only comparable is Yandle who signed for 5.25M per for 5 years. Yandle scored 53 pts last season and played 24 minutes per game, just like PK.
But PK won a Norris, plays in Mtl (higher taxes), and the cap was at 64M when Yandle signed compared to 69M today. So 7M vs 5.25M seems fair for PK, for the first 2 years.

Then it's his UFA years where he could get anywhere between 8M and 9M per. Letang just signed for 7.25M, so 8.5M seems fair, for the same reasons as mentionned previously (Norris, taxes, cap increasing). Letang has won a cup though.

7,7, 8.5,8.5,8.5,8.5,8.5 = 56.5M for 7 years

One could also argue that 7M per for 5 years would also be fair though (same contract as Yandle but increased at 7M per)

And since players always get what they want, he'll probably sign for 8 years 68M or 8.5M per.

Explain why Stamkos would leave a contending team in Florida for the Leafs in Winterland?
- elcabong

Because the Leafs with Stamkos, is better than the Lightning with Stamkos.

Toronto Cap Hits if this were to happen
1. Stamkos 14M
2. Subban 14M
3. Kessel 8M
4. Phaneuf 7M
5. Clarkson 5.5M
6. Bernier 5M this summer
7. Kardi 5M this summer
8. Bozak 4M+
9. JVR 4M+
10. Gardiner 4M

The cap isnt hitting 100M anytime soon

Offering PK less than Markov was one huge slap in the face.

PK is 25 restricted free agent. Markov is 35 UFA, played all his career in Mtl.

Its halarious how someone writes that Subban wants to play in TO and now all the Leaf fans think he is awesome and he deserves more than than he is going to get. (Even though nobody even knows what he is being offered) Then he will signn long term in MTL and you will all revert back to the old defensive liability argument lol
- KovyFan27

he is being offered 5.25 on a one way deal. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see the habs are trying to play hardball.

I think Subban is a very good d-man, probably top 10 in the league. He will likely be the highest paid d-man for a few years

And PK asking for 8.5M is not playing hardball? Like I said, he's probably worth 7M for the first 2 years, so they'll meet in the middle.

Actually, the comments are about the leafs because you and your buddies, as usual, think that every star player in the league wants to play for the leafs.

When in fact, even players like Josh Gorges don't want to play there.

pot meet kettle. When is Giroux finally gonna get traded for Plekanec, Budaj and a 2nd? moron

Something crazy.... as much as people say there's parody in the NHL, looking at the top 9 teams last season, they hold 8 of the last 9 cups.

Amazing when you think about it
