Ya it was definitely worth it. Some of the lyrics were ridiculous. At the intermission I overhead a few ppl saying things like "did I just hear *xxxx*??" It was comedy all around for us hahaha

For the starting point on a 1 year deal through arbitration. That's how arbitration works your going to always pay more than your offer. You think they should have offered him something fair so they could pay him 8 mil for 1 year? Nashville offered Weber 4 mil 3 years ago... That's probabily why he left asap too eh?

Thanks Capt'n Obvious, I know how it works.
I just don't think disrespecting the best player on your team by low balling is a good tactic. They know they'll have to pay more at any length of term... why be Richards about it????

Meh, that depends on the play of the younger players taking more responsibility. IMO, the Habs ditched almost everyone they needed to ditch and are moderately better and definitely more balanced, but we will see come next Feb.

Meh the habs wont be as good as they were last season, their defense is even more softer than it was last season

TSN reporting Subban happy with negotiations and talks about "mutual respect" on both sides. Doesn't sound like someone who is "insulted"

I think he will be fine ,the hype got to him ,he is good for 15 to 20 goals and 35 to 40 points .Add in his physical play and yeah he is still over paid by about a mil or so but who cares

I watch every Habs game and gorges is not a physical player. He's a shot blocker, second effort, puck off the glass guy. He never challenged anyone physically. I believe you may be over estimating some of his abilities. Subban, Emelin, weaver, Tinordi all are physical. Even beaulieu has a mean streak (insert BBQ assault charge joke here lol)

Leafs should have signed Penner last year and let Clarkson go to EDM.

You are correct we lose on the hits and block shots going to Gilbert from Gorges
he brings a better offensive game

Now its up to the coaching staff to get Gilbert to up his numbers in those 2 categories

I like Clarkson and was hoping ottawa would sign him ,ok not at that price mind you .But he is an elite bottom 6 guy imho ,that can play a bit in the top 6 role .The problem he has is that he is paid like a very good top 6 guy when he really isnt

Totally agree about the retooling. I mentioned this last summer on a Habs thread that the D will be seeing big chgs next season, but I am happy they moved on from Gorges. His style has ground him down a lot and I was so sick of not being able to make any kind of pass (or shot) lol

Montreal plays the speed/ skill game and are quite good at it,my only issue with them is that when they run against big physical teams that play displined hockey .(not stupid running guys hockey that bruins played against them last season)They tend to suffer,it like most teams in the east is a work in progress
