Booth was worth a shot at that price, play him with Santorelli and you could see a decent season from him IMO. Liked both of those deals for you guys, plus Winnik as well. - Nucker101
Agree, the new and improved bottom six should get us back into the show.
How about Van, they going to pull themselves together with Miller and sneak in?

Reports everywhere of Mtl offering 5 mil per?
That's a joke... Why would they even want to remotely piss I guy off who has as much talent as PK.
Leafs fans would love to see PK come here... so would Islanders and Flames fans. It's just a bit of fun relax.
I'd be more worried about how much worse your team is this year than last... - Liger4
For the starting point on a 1 year deal through arbitration. That's how arbitration works your going to always pay more than your offer. You think they should have offered him something fair so they could pay him 8 mil for 1 year? Nashville offered Weber 4 mil 3 years ago... That's probabily why he left asap too eh? |

Booth scoring 20 would help ease the pain of watching Clarkson.
MDZ isn't finished, needs to find a good home and find his game.
He should look to WPG. - Byfuglien Ate Me
MDZ just got his wake up call this season and he better get it together this year or he will be a year to year contract guy trying to find PP time to get a multi year deal. |

Lets fix your brackets
Vanek disappeared in the playoffs
Malhotra > White
Parenteau - Briere - lets call it a wash
Gilbert on the PP > Gorges
Sekac
Tinordi
Beaulieu - MTL1
I love how you say Gilbert on the PP I can play too
Gorges on the PK>Gilbert
Gorges as a leader>Gilbert
Gorges in general>Gilbert
And Vanek a first line winger leaving will make any team much worse. Please get that through your head. And no Gionta.Your Captain. It would of made sense to get rid of Gionta and make Gorges captain but.... |

Sorry to break it to you but Vanek not returning makes Montreal a worse team. Gilbert isn't better than Gorges maybe on the PP. What about the PK and leadership? - JVR_42_PK81
Bringing in Malhotra addresses the PK and the defensive zone starts - taking some of that away from Plekanec - better than having White as the 4th line centre
Having Weise for a full year on the PK will be good as well
Leadership - Subban, Price, Markov

Van has the players to challenge for a wildcard spot IMO. But the west is just tough to play in so injuries (or lack of) will greatly impact their finish as they just don't have the same depth they had a few yrs ago. |

I'm not convinced Gilbert is better than Gorges, we'll have to wait and see. That said Gorges game has been declining rapidly over the last 2 seasons. He's lost his edge in the defensive zone. He can still block shots like a monster, but he's not the player he used to be. |

Gionta wanted big money for a 35 - he got 4.25 for 3 years - there is a salary cap - Habs have to sign the 2 Gallys and with other guys coming in through the minors 4.25 is steep for 3 years - he pushed on term and Habs offered a 1 year deal
Gorges - the Habs really wanted to move him - and you know they really wanted to move him as they tried to push him to a team that wasnt even on his list and to a rival - 3.9 over the next 4 years become excessive with Tinordi and Beaulieu up and coming
Weaver coming in at the trade deadline showed alot of heart and made moving gorges a bit easier
I will remember Vanek for his playoff performance - and the decision to let him walk was easy - he was only with the Habs post trade deadline |

He is according to the market. You should know by now that the more money given to other teams "D", the less Phaneuf's stupid contract looks....stupid... |

Gorges time was up the season before last IMO. Great team guy and all but he was getting 2nd PP time and he can't make a pass to save his life. He just stopped playing any kind of offensive game and has best asset was stepping in front of shots. By getting rid of him they were able to keep Weaver (great grab btw) who will block shots AND hit, and Grab Gilbert for PP/size/sort out back end enaing Emelin to go back to his preferred side so he can crush ppl. I was happy to move on from Gorges. It was time with guys like Beaulieu, Tinordi, Patryn needing a opportunity.
It seems that MB made a big statement this offseason when he said that they young core players stepped up into leadership roles this season so there's going to be a passing of the torch of sorts. Except for Markov, but he's doing a good job with the rookies ( my sis napped a awesome pic of her with him, Tinordi, Galchenyuk as they were running up the side of mont Royale (I think) last weekend lol hilarious).
Honestly, I would be happy with PK or Price being captain and a A on Gallagher. |

You can think about it that way but it doesn't change that the Habs got worse. Not considerably worse but they did get worse. The moves they made will help long term but not short term. |

Meh, that depends on the play of the younger players taking more responsibility. IMO, the Habs ditched almost everyone they needed to ditch and are moderately better and definitely more balanced, but we will see come next Feb. |

Could be true. The moves were definitely productive over a longer term. Whether they take a step back depends on the play of additions and young guys coming in. |

I can't wait until PK and Stamkos sign their long term deals so these rumours of everyone going to the Leafs can finally be over. |

Vanek shouldn't count for much into that equation, the guy has been with the Habs for 18 regular games and 17 playoff games. The guy was horrible in the playoff, however he sure help the 1st line in those 18 regular games.
BUT, Montreal was already 2nd in the division and were pretty much "already" doing the playoff before adding Vanek
Plus, Gorges was replace by Gilbert, Beaulieu and Tinordi.
I'm not saying we are better, however we are sure not worse |
