Close but not there - John Jaeckel
He's as good, or better than Niemi.
Edit: But IMO that's more indicative of the fact that I don't think Niemi belongs in the top 10, more so than me thinking Crawford should be somewhere on your list. |

Yeah sure...I like being a utensil.....I like your blogs John. Especially these blogs where you give your perspective. I much rather that then getting scoup's from the sources...Ha.
What's debatable about Brodeur owning the records. That's fact..
No mention of Hardy Åström?? - _diatribe_
Brodeur also played on a great New Jersey team. His save percentage was good but not top quality. He won so many games because of New Jersey's system and the low scoring era he played in is why he has so many shutouts. Nice to have Niedermeyer, Stevens, Rafalski, etc. in front of you too, especially with a high scoring offence. I think Brodeur is behind both Roy (2) and Hasek (1). I haven't had the luxury to see any of the others play so he would be third on my list.

Blues don't allow a lot of goals his numbers are going to be good. He already has 16 SO's in the last three years starting like 30 games per year. |

As an unbiased fan who had Devin Dubnyk between the pipes for the last while (why isn't he on this list ), I'd take Carey Price as my goaltender over everyone on that list. Put him in Boston, Nashville, LA, etc, I think you see his numbers become even better.
Not that this list is out to lunch or anything, definitely a legitimate way to rank the goalies now.
I also bet you see Bernier creep into this list next year. - ystoil
You think Nashville is an easy place to play for a goalie? |

Well the Blues during their spring time meltdown and Elliott's goaltending are (hopefully) independent variables. |

Henrik is no doubt a stud
that being said, my take on him is he will always be a goalie that will steal games here and there and will keep his team in every series with a chance to win
BUT, he has never had the killer instinct where he just went off and robbed the other team blind and won a championship nearly by himself, a-la a JS Giguere, Jonathan Quick, Cam Ward, or Patrick Roy - FourFeathers773
Tell Pittsburgh he never had that killer instinct. Kings were just a far better team. |

Not sure I would agree with that. He definitely has that killer instinct as basically every playoff series we've won the past few years can be attributed him to just raising his game to a level where he wouldn't let the team lose. He just couldn't do it in the SCF series, but that doesn't mean he hasn't done it before or isn't capable of doing it in the future. |

Plus he has better career numbers than Bishop.
EDIT: Since he has been with the Blues. |

i would definitely say it's one of hte "easier" systems/team for a goalie to play in. everything about how the team is built, and the system they play, is about not giving up goals. they have one of the better and bigger group of d-men in the leauge.
the goalie doens't get a lot of run support, which will hurt his win total, but in terms of actually stopping the puck, i would say nashville is one of the best places for a goalie to play and enjoy personal success. |

Well thats the thing about "stealing" a series, that usually implies the other team was the better team
I wouldnt say PIT was a better team than NYR last year, even though Lundqvist played really well. A lot of people were divided on who was going to win that series. NYR played well and PIT played like shxt, led by their braindead coach

Listen, im not saying Lundqvist doesnt play well, he does
BUT, name the last team that NYR went into as big underdogs against that Lundqvist led them past?
LAK this year, BOS last year were heavy favorites and NYR didnt get past them. NJD 3 years ago were actually the underdogs against NYR when they beat them, and they lost in the first round to WSH the year before that, which might have been WSH's best shot to go deep |

Under Trotz's system and when Suter, Josi, Weber were in front of him, yes a bit easier than most teams which is when he put up his best numbers. Now, maybe not as easy but they still had Trotz last year and Weber/Josi |

Actually after looking closer I wouldn't say more than a few... But at this point I don't put Niemi in the Top 10
Off the cuff something like this for me:
Lundquist
Quick
Rask
Price
Rinne
Bobrovsky
Schneider
Lethonen
Miller
Howard
I didn't include guys like Bishop & varly (although I think they are going to be) as they haven't had the string of seasons together to include them. - MrBeanTown
No way does he belong in the top 10 |

Blues don't give up high quality shots. Elliot is a good backup/1B. If he thought he was a starter himself, I'm pretty sure he would have asked for more than 2.5M per |
