I understand that when you are losing an argument and have nothing intelligent to say that people hide behind words like "shut up already"

you guys like to say sarcastic things, one Habs fan reponds to somebody's post with a laughing face and you guys act like a little gang, but I do expect some more hockey knowledge from a fanbase with such a distinct history

Your not winning any argument here. Your just saying the same stuff while everyone laughs at your logic and what you keep repeating. It's time for you to stop the McDonough is better than Subban crusade. Plus I think 7 or mcd's points came in 2 games (including the first game where the Habs were penalized like crazy for trying to kill that puss Kreider). Give it a rest. Just lay in bed with your McDonough mcfarlane toy or stuffed doll. Beat it.

The Subban camp's numbers are way below what he could get on the open market. If the NHL continues on its current growth trend, I think PK signed for 9-9.5M will be just above average for a top-pairing defender in the NHL by 2016-17.

Good thing that this deal he can only negotiate with the Habs and not all the other 29 teams

I also want to say that Montreal didn't want to sign PK on potential alone a few seasons ago and agreed to a bridge deal, and that should certainly cost them. During the bridge contract, the guy the Habs were betting against won the Norris Trophy and was clearly, as far as skaters go, the driving force in leading the Habs into an improbable playoff run.

$5M as a starting point for Montreal is a poison pill if you know basic game theory. That and I'm sure the Habs will try and pick apart PK's personality as much as they think they can.

PK was the top D in the NHL one of the two years and then gave his fans the satisfaction of beating the Bruins and made his team a lot of money by carrying the team deep into the playoffs. PK, having taken less money in his early prime in the form of the bridge deal, has the right to walk into the negotiating room and say that not only is he worth eight figures but that he accommodated the Habs by accepting a bridge deal. Pay up.

Oh. I didn't realize that Montreal is some kind of Chinese-style special economic zone where market-wide forces are suspended.
