Ketchup is always good. But I agree, it's really a generalization.

No I dont think Nanne was involved in this at all

But Mr Anderson ( in my best voice from the Matrix) not to be confused with Neo

At the risk of being totally politically incorrect he got into a fight with someone at a faceoff when they called out his personal preferences for intimacy. Might have sticked someone in the face (the hockeystick)

i meant lorne henning, not lou nanne...i confused my "L"s. i still say the same thing: really?

i just watched the clip, and although it's close, nystrom is not offside. definitely a good goal. still...should never have happened. the flyers had FIVE chances to intercept the puck on the entire play, and missed every time with weak one-handers/reaches/sweep checks...just awful. and peeters seemed to be completely unaware of the nystrom weak-side option and unprepared for the pass attempt. he had to have seen him because nystrom was tangled up a bit in the left corner on the original flyers dump out, cleared the zone, and then criss-crossed with tonelli coming back over the line. if al hill was right handed, that pass never gets through the slot. JFC.

The broken tooth train continues. It's always a good time because the bone has almost always fused to my teeth so it's not just an extraction it's a surgery and they can rarely get all of it. Follow up x-rays on Monday.

Edit: Apple Pie yogurt is not at all like Apple Pie.

Dumber.

I think a quarter of a Rinaldo is like one Link Gaetz.

Best quote in hockey history not uttered by Andre Dupont:

Lou Nanne on the North Stars draft in 1988:

We drafted Mike (Modano) in the first round to protect the franchise. We drafted Link (Gaetz) in the second round to protect Mike. We should have taken a lawyer in the third round to protect Link.

Dude would have broken Schultz' record for PIM in a season if he hadn't been scratched/suspended so much in 91/92.

Edit: "It appears that Link's season is over after he was suspended for the remainder of the year after leaving the dressing room in the second intermission to go get a hamburger from an arena vendor. Apparently, this did not rest well with the team management and citing the existence of various other transgressions, not named, Link was suspended for the rest of the season. "

Thanks for this. One thing I'm not clear about is dump ins for line changes (1/3 to 1/2 of all changes?). That happens a lot, maybe the last guy on the ice does a half hearted forecheck sweep through the zone and heads to the bench. That's obviously going to bring down that "Shots against per entry w/out possession" stat and it really isn't a play expected to generate offense, it's really more a strategic defensive move.
- fls13

I'm pretty sure they only count entries where a serious attempt at offense is made... there probably are times when that one guy sweeping shallow into the zone somehow ends up w/ the puck on a dump-in and it becomes an offensive foray, but short of that, I think the data is pretty much supposed to be line-dump free.

Never liked the current PP/PK stats. Should be goals per 120 seconds, that's the real measure of your special teams.

In Jay Greenberg's book, Clarke said that they were just out of gas by that point. A lot of key players were playing injured, the D was being held together by glue and the Isles were just deeper, and healthier. He thought that even had they won game 6, it would have took a miracle for them to win game 7, even though the game was at the Spectrum. They were just that spent.

I am still seething about a Clark Gillies hook on Mike Busniuk behind the Flyers net in one of the first games at the Island, totally took him to the ice with his stick in his elbow or waist and put the puck out front for a goal

I want to know how they called a penalty for holding in one of the games on Watson, playing with a broken arm.

The Islanders or Brooklanders can rot in Hades forever for that tainted cup, and so can the 87 Oilers and the 09 Pens. All teams with intervention either by acts of commission or omission

Toews, Stankos, Doughty and Weber are all damn good names but give me Giroux easily over Benn. Tarvares deserves an honorable mention too.

Agreed!

I know we're all living off the high of Giroux coming in third in point production for the second time in three seasons but we should also consider Stamkos was hurt and I believe Malkin missed sometime. I'm actually very interested in seeing a season where all the top young stars have a clear healthy season and seeing how Giroux holds up then.
