Love that movie. It's like gospel in Scotland. They get all rowdy about it. Well.... until they realize the English butchers him at the end. All they remember is FREEDOM....... and..... boom goes the dynamite. - walshyleafsfan

Franson/Reimer for Clitsome and a 2nd...not a rumour..done deal as soon as Clitsome comes off LTIR - Garnie
Wow, I kind of don't hate that! They'd have to sign a new backup G then I guess. |

Yes, apparently all we are waiting for is Clitsome's doctor to determine that he has fully healed from back surgery that was required after he missed half a season of hockey.
A note from the doctor. Probably won't be legible, because we all know how doctors' handwriting is, but Clitsome will tell Nonis that he is good to go, and then the deal will go through.
That's generally how trades work involving back surgeries. - Atomic Wedgie
How old is he? 29....ppft. My dad would say "He's not old enough to have a back!" |

im curious why Anaheim didn't want him back given his price tag and the fact that he put up his most productive 2 seasons there. - DoubleDown
It basically came down to the Ducks wanting to free up a spot for some of the prospects and young players to compete over. Etem, Palmieri, Smith-Pelly, and Maroon are all capable of playing NHL minutes but there hasn't been room on the roster for most of the past few seasons.
Winnik was a good player for us and played a lot of tough minutes, especially on the penalty kill and late in games protecting a lead. I really liked him on the third line with Cogliano and Koivu, but I think Boudreau wants to play Cogliano with Kesler and plans to use Rakell on the third line in more of an offensive role. Winnik is a good player to have on your team, but not much for offense.
Personally, I would much rather have Winnik on the team than Heatley for what ended up being about the same money, but I don't think Boudreau likes having guys on the roster than can't contribute offensively. I also think there may have been a bit of a falling out between Winnik and management/coaching before or during the playoffs, as his play was subpar during the postseason. Toronto got a good player for a great deal though, and I think the bottom six for the Leafs will be very strong this season thanks to this deal and some of the others made this offseason. |

Oh the Rape of Nanking.... that was nothing! Here's a brief summary:
In late 1937, over a period of six weeks, Imperial Japanese Army forces brutally murdered hundreds of thousands of people–including both soldiers and civilians–in the Chinese city of Nanking (or Nanjing). The horrific events are known as the Nanking Massacre or the Rape of Nanking, as between 20,000 and 80,000 women were sexually assaulted. Nanking, then the capital of Nationalist China, was left in ruins, and it would take decades for the city and its citizens to recover from the savage attacks. |
