Polak is a 5-6, so playing him as a #2 is not wise. I don't care for the trade in the first place, so referencing who he was traded for carries little weight. Polak was playing low in the blues lineup and not exactly keeping up, what could possibly lead you to think he could play more against tougher opposition with weaker support.

The NHL is changing, dmen like gardiner and Reilly that move the puck so well are becoming more valuable. Yes their d isn't great by its not as bad as some make it out to be, and their offense/puck moving way outweighs their defensive shortcomings.

I agree with that, but which 2-3 does the team have to play there instead?

i am not even entertaining the robidas top pairing crap anymore

its going to be phaneuf gardiner / robidas rielly / polak franson

and if franson is moved it will be granberg instead.

man oh man i'm done with this nonsense.

- Dozzer

King Gilmour said it was going to be Phaneuf - Robidas.

What have you got to say to that?

they should, he's earned it

and to provide actual evidence to my opinion, which seems to be a rarity around here, robidas will be paired with rielly or gardiner

“Morgan Rielly and Jake Gardiner,” Robidas said from his off-season home in Sherbrooke, Que. “When we talked about my role and what the Leafs are looking for, they’d like me to help the younger defencemen. To me that’s a great opportunity. I’ve watched them play. I know exactly how good they are and everything. Having a chance to play with one of the two and try to help those guys is going to be good for me.”

I think it will be with Gardiner only because Rielly's hockey IQ and instincts are better. At the same time I don't want Rielly paired with Franson.

I think this is a waste of time - the pairings are going to change quite a bit over the length of the season.

I admit i dont know much about the guy or watch blues games. I just thought a shutdown guy would be good for dions game and when they made that trade it seemed like they were swapping his partner out for a new one.
- TonkaPhaneuf

Polak has worse relative corsi than gunner..... He wasn't very good on a very good team. And he played lower in the lineup.

Taking a player that didn't do well with his limited role and giving him more responsibility with weaker support is recipe for disaster. New nhl is gardiner types.

last season, with the player end of season interviews carlyle made reference to some things gardiner said.. and who he likened himself too, etc.

next thing you know he's locked up for 5 years

its going to be gardiner phaneuf.. to start anyways.

Shhh, we have to discuss this because well, Carlyle doesn't have a clue. Take a seat.

It's funny - everyone here is trying to come up with the perfect solution.

Let's be honest - there isn't one at the moment.

Why do people talk about Corsi for a defensive defenseman, it is stupid and irrelevant.

I don't know if you guys know Robidas. He is really very good. Nothing fancy, but always at the right place at the right time.
