Dion will hopefully learn from what Robidas says, not get better because of him playing with him... His biggest flaws are foot speed and coverage, I'm not sure how any d man in the league is gonna make dion cover his man in front when they are dealing with the guy in the corner. I don't see how said guy is all the sudden gonna make it harder for guys to blow by him wide - whats he gonna do cut across and leave his own side open?... Dions problems will be with him until HE does something about it, not anyone else... |

IMO
Dion isnt a number 1 that can carry a number 2.
He's not a number 2 that can help improve a number 1.
That's all Im saying.
He's playing a number 1....should be a number 2. If he didnt have to worry about helping others and just concentrate on his own work...he would be a great number 2.
If he is going to succeed as our number 1....then he needs a quality defensive number 2 to absorb some of his minutes and give him the space to only worry about his space on the ice.
I dont think Nonis has gotten that player yet for him.
Dont get your panties in a knot....
He's a good player....be he has many limits
The HH/saliva joke was just dumb.....try harder. - Fakepartofme
I agree with the bolded sentences above.
That's about it. |

reliable yes, but he did nothing good, just below avg at everything.
so at least gardiner has either offense, or skating speed, neither of which gunner had. - big_dion
gunnar is a solid second pairing guy
i dont mind the move for polak tho, basically gave up a left for a right |

any D man on the team is better than these guys
if you still dont get it, well, im not suprised.... - big_dion
Last year, he played with an NHL dman.....third pairing sure.
This year he will play with Gardiner or another third pairing dman.
Not a huge difference.
Who cares about the year before.
Funny thing, the half season, was one of Dion's better seasons. |

honestly.. we could have bobby orr, coffey, lidstrom, salming, bourque, and robinson on D and so long as they continued playing Carlyle's sit back and let the play come to you system the leafs D would still suck - Dozzer
Just need a better goalie. |

MIL has a better record than PIT, but PIT has better odds of winning the WS (1.9% vs 3.9%)
What up with that?
PS - The Jays have better odds than both of them |

Because the shortened season wasn't as taxing on him, as we can all agree he is asked to play too many minutes.
Funny thing about that. |

Fans are going to like Polak's play - he's a wiener, something we can all relate to. Life won't be as easy in front of the net for opposition this year. |

The best way to help the d is to reduce his minutes, have 3 pairings that can handle close to 20 mins each... |

Exactly.
A decent dman that plays simply too much in a role that may not be exactly suited to him.
But it is what it is.
Nonis job this summer was to get him proper support...no matter the cost to help him succeed.
I dont feel he did that....unless Gardiner becomes defensively stronger. |
