Leafs fans making poop up again....I said Gardiner and Franson were the Leafs best Corsi dmen and you would be dumb to give them away. Gunner for Polak was dumb too. For a 5 yr deal it sounds about what we have been saying Shultz should sign for as well.
- Iggysbff

No one cares about your pretentious bullpoop. Franson is terrible and all you have to do is watch.

trade franson, sign del zotto or use Percy/Granberg in the last pairing of defense with Polak

I believe there is a better shot at signing a ufa dman for the last spot or 2 than giving ahl guys a shot on the back end

This has been a damn good off season for Leafs. No earth shattering moves but a lot of filling in the puzzles...

Well, as it stands now the leafs still have to sign or trade for another NHL dman if they aren't going to go with a rookie. Only have 6 NHL dmen signed, need to fill #7 spot.

Santorelli
Winnik

If they all have good years this year - will be a tough task to re-sign them all for next year - double edge sword - but if they crap out - easy to dump them in the AHL for the year and to let them walk next summer- odds are they have a good year than bad one

Or depending on how they compose their 23 man roster - they could go

13F 8D 2G
or
14F 7D 2G

I think Komarov, Kontiola and Frattin will help out as well.

Robidas and Polak will help on the d side, hopefully.

Well maybe what they didn't do is better. Like not overpayng for anyone.. We got lucky Dale Tallon wanted Bolland so bad.. Avoided that mess.. But I am including getting rid of asst coaches, Poulin, Loiselle, a lot of junk out the door..

I think next year there will be a couple of the AHL guys.

Lots of people complaining about no spots for youngsters, but I see no issue with letting them become professionals in the AHL first until they're 23ish. It has been working quite nicely for Detroit...

I'm surprised he can even still skate. But I think he'll be majorly helpful if he's back to form.

I believe it also has to do with cap flexibility as the Leafs have 2 big signings after this year

Exactly what I was going to say! One more year of development for some of these Marlies. If the guys signed for a year a work out well and want big contracts, they can leave and the Marlies will be more equipped to replace them. If they don't work out, the Marlies get an earlier step into the spotlight.

He definitely slowed them down last year. Which is why they kept trying different players to play with them. If he doesn't show improvement in camp/pre-season, there's absolutely no reason to start him on the 2nd line just because he's making 2nd line $

To the original poster. Where's Franson? I don't get why everyone is so down on him, and willing to give him away for nothing. He is great on the pp. If anything put him on the bottom pairing and give him sheltered minutes.

Some people earlier putting Gards on the 1st pairing with Phanuef is just ludicris. His worst aspect of his game is defense and you want to play him 25 mins a night against the oppositions best lines, thats all kinds of stupid. Leafs need a stay at home, solid defensive player to play beside Phanuef....if only there was one out there obtainable

- LeafsBlueline

You know what's also all kinds of stupid? Saying something won't work when you don't know if it's true or not. I think the way things have gone this summer points to gardiner being on the 1st pair and I dont think it will be as bad as you make it out to be.
