I think Nonis should call up Ken Holland

Offer Franson for Kindl +.

We could then play Rielly with Robidas, and Kindl with Polak (Czech-mate!)
thoughts?

A few questions:

A. Is this a fair deal for both sides? yes. Gardiner gets a bit more the first couple years, but this deal will seem like a steal after a year or 2.

B. Does Jake's contract improve his trade value? I dont think it changes much

C. Has this deal made Jake a more valuable asset to the organization? yes

D. Does this deal make Jake more attractive to other teams? see B

- As_I_See_It

Jake might be the only 4 million D-man we had in a while that is actually worth it.
Guys like Komisarek, Liles, and Gleason were handsomely paid, but ineffective.

You're correct about PK not signing for 8. If that's the case, ouch. I'm assuming he will. Could Montreal have signed him for 8 years 2 years ago? Sure. But let's remember that this is pre-Norris PK. He's a far better, more complete player now that he was 2 years ago. Signing him 8 years (assuming he wanted that) would have been a huge leap of faith. You see that very very rarely.

I think there is no sense debating what Montreal did with Subban. It is very easy to criticize with 20/20 hindsight. I think they probably cost themselves in the long run but they really had no choice. It would have been absurd to give him 8 for 8 at the time.

I think SUBBAN was looking for like 6.5 which would have been a steal for them.

Especially against Leaf fans.

Micah banned my alt for 3 years and now I cannot access the account. It was going to be active next August I think.

I doubt they would have had to pay over 6, but I agree its a risk.
I just think Bergevin low balled PK last time, I remember being shocked at how low he signed for. If they had agreed on a more reasonable salary, say 3.5 x 2, maybe PK would take Karlsson money. Who knows. I still remember him working as a broadcaster as the season started and proceeded to win the Norris. Bergevin has no leverage this time

I think he was willing to sign for 5 per over 5-6 years. That would have been brilliant in hindsight

My first thought was "Why would Detroit do this?" We have all seen the very best Franson has to offer.
- Jeropotato

Kindl is not very good, and not high on Detroit's list as far as D-Men....in my opnion, The Wings would jump on a deal involving Franson....Holland is taking a lot of slack as of late, and having a hard time signing veteran players (because of Babcock)

FA used to take pay cuts to play in Detroit, now even if they over pay, FA wont sign there. Look to Detroit to target some very aged D-Men....even someone like Jovonovski.

PK is gonna get paid. I don't believe that his previous contract is going to make him ask for more now.

If the Leafs were in the same situation we would be applauding the bridge contract. It just isn't realistic to criticize the Habs now.

Mine was for telling one of the posters that I won't be surprised when he ends up being wrong and mysteriously disappears when it is time to man up, or something like that. No swearing, no name calling... just a simple and true fact.

The*reason* according to Micah was that I had multiple accounts and the account username was offensive to him.

Similar contract to Voynov, Faulk and Fowler. Only time will tell if he's worth it.
