Man, that better NOT be Fosco (I kid I kid #freefoscoforf*cksakes)

Speaking of which, any Fosco sightings of late? Yetti, let's get moving on this, for gawd sakes Use those otherworldly mod powers for good for once! Do you think he was abducted by chocolate-hoarding pine-cone-sniffing gypsies? and forced into phallic garden gnome sales in Eastern Europe? good grief, this board is merciless

Putting "confirmed" in ALL CAPS definitely makes it OFFICIAL.

Just to point out....... if you go through his thread he also """"CONFIRMED""" the Kesler trade at the deadline.

The fact this clown refers to himself as an Ex-NHL'r is embarrassing, he probably has a game worn jersey so it is pretty much one and the same as being an ex-NHL'r.

Yes! Penner is exactly the type of player that the Canuck need, and yes I know his history as I'm an Oilers fan through and through.

I know Penner will likely frustrate fans throughout the regular season as he'll have likely an up and down roller coaster ride for the most part. But when he shows up (usually against his old teams) he is a force to be reckoned with. Angry Dustin is one of the best power forwards in the league. But the big reason you'll love him is because Penner is all about playoff hockey. He's the kind of player that thrives on the playoffs because the refs put the whistles away but he can still skate and has good hands with three guys clutching and grabbing and hanging off his back. The Twins biggest problem is that they aren't big enough to push through that in the playoffs, great in regular season but when they can get hooked and man handled they can't dipsy doodle like in the regular season where there'd be 10 penalties a shift called if it were like the playoffs. Throw Penner on their line every now and then in the playoffs and watch the other team crap their pants!

Look absolutely he'll mail in his effort on likely too many regular season games but you make it to the playoffs and want to go far you need a guy like Penner, he was one of LA's best during that playoff run and was the same in Anaheim.

Angry Penner is one of my favorite players and wish he was still in Orange and Blue cause the kids need the help!

Meh
When the season starts the twins will be 33 and Penner will be 32, I'd much rather see one of the kids get ice time, even if it's Gaunce on the 4th line.

I think if it wasn't for the impressive physical dimensions, and notwithstanding some success he's had in the post-season (which really wasn't overly impressive in the grande scheme of things) Penner would have been out of the league years ago. I mean, how many times can you give the guy a mulligan and continue to espouse 'potential'. Let's face it, for whatever reason, the guy just doesn't show up at least 75% of the time. Whether it's psychological reasons or physical aspects (weight issues), it's rare the times you see Penner really add value (which is that much more frustrating, as he could be Bertuzzi 2.0 if he got ever got his sh*t together)

Good grief, that just demonstrates how underwhelming he's been over the course of his career (for some reason I thought he was a bit younger).

It's certainly hard to disagree with your comments. What a waste. I've seen shifts where he's been a beast and dominated with his size and strength. Of course then I've seen (MANY MORE) shifts where it looked like he was obviously thinking about the breakfast buffet at IHOP.

Talk about an enigma

Best live show I've ever seen!!!
Their first time playing Vancouver at Thee Commodore Ballroom, with the original dance floor. Joe Strummer was filling in as their last minute guitar player. T he place went completely ape-poop the entire night!! The two encores were, "I Fought the Law" & then "London Calling"!!!

That was Dec 99. I was there on my 19th birthday.... I lost it when they played London Calling but had to listen in the alley. My best friend was on the guest list and they wouldnt make an exception for me at the door.... birthday or no birthday. They also knew first hand my crew were trouble at these shows. Had to leave alley after 2 fights lol.

Anyone willing to post their version of the opening day roster while remaining realistic ( I.e not incorporating 5 prospects and/or roster players acquired through mystical trade)?

Just wondering how the majority of y'all think the lines will match up!

Whatever the combination is, the canucks will match up poorly against other western teams.

ANA
CHI
STL
LA
COL
SJ
DAL

If the canucks make the playoffs it will be a (frank)ing miracle.

I think our anthem song should involve some sort of bagpipe/sea-chanty hip-hop combination?

(imagine some wicked bagpipe riffs )

P.S. oh, and of course we need to hear lots and lots more White Stripes

This would be perfect, playing ANA in round 1 and knocking them out

No doubt, but with the surplus of 3rd liners and the additions of Vey and perhaps Jensen the team would have them ability to roll four lines. Curious as to how you guys would form the roster

Sedin Sedin Shink?/Jensen?
Vrbata Bonino Kassian
Mattias Horvat Hansen
Higgins Richardson Dorsett

Bieksa Hamhuis
Edler Tanev
Corrado Sbisa

Miller
Lack

Things could change drastically before the opening day but I think this is realistic.

Agreed, though keep in mind that Vrbata and Vey would further push out there likes of Shink/Jensen/Horvat

I had to fix it. I forgot about Vrbata. I meant to put him were Burrows is. Long season I am sure we will get to see many changes in the line up.
