Del Zotto's market value is probably as low as it comes now. I think he would be a steal and some team is gonna get a 30-40pt. defenseman playing 3rd pair for like 1.5M. Not a bad bargain if he's paired up with a solid stay at home dman.

Pretty much what he did with the Rangers. He'll probably get a ton of PP minutes and get put out there in situations where blueline offense is needed. But defensively, he will probably be 5th dman on depth charts. He certainly won't be defensively matched up against opponent's top scoring lines, so yeah he'll be 3rd pair playing against 3rd and 4th lines...where he can put up points.

He played in the Top 4 with Jones, Weber, and Josi. If he cant produce with those guys around him, he wont on another team.

The Flyers will never win the cup the way they sign guys, build through the draft, stop signing rejects like Vinnie and Leino.

That they played way over their heads last year and will suffer from massive regression this season.

Did they play above and beyond what everyone was expecting? Yes.

That being said, people don't realize how bad of a coach Joe Sacco was.(coach of the avs before Roy) He was a large part of why the avs had all of those brutal years. If you look at our lineup a lot of our players are expected to progress, not regress. Do you honestly think that players like Mackinnon, Duchene, O'Reilly, Barrie, Johnson, Landeskog are going to regress at their age?

Do I think the avs will win the central again? No.

But people are acting like it was some type of act of god that won them the division. The avs got better defensively this offseason. We lost Stastny, a player who in a year or two would have been (arguably) the fourth center on our depth chart. (Duchene, Mackinnon, ROR, Stastny) I don't know how much GM experience you have but paying your 3rd or 4th line center 7m doesn't build championship caliber teams.

Avs also added Iginla. Right wing was one of our weakest positions last year and now we've bolstered it with a guy coming off of a 30 goal season. Not to mention he is on a more offensively talented team in the avs. We have a good young team, poised to improve with a coaching system the team believes in.

Avs will make the playoffs this year, and with the pieces they've added they have become a better playoff team. Iginla is the new Bourque, didn't you get the memo?

Yeah he struggled on a new team in a new system with a new coach for a portion of the season he was traded from NY where he had always been for 5 years to Nashville Tennesee. I think his production there was the exception not the norm. Look at each of his seasons with the Rangers. The kid has serious offensive blueline talent. His problem in NY was always more defensive. And he's only 24.
