A hawks fan would.

It's definitely a tough call. I wouldn't be heartbroken in the imaginary scenario of Crosby and Toews being swapped.

Crosby is without doubt the best scorer in the league. Can't argue otherwise. However, when it comes right down to it, the only accolade that truly matters is the Cup and Toews has brought home more than Sid.

Crosby can score all he wants in the regular season and get the Art Ross's and Harts but in this sport a greater team game yields more than individual success from its players and Toews brings the most out from his teammates.

Yes, Toews is clearly the reason why. Not..you know..that the Hawks complimentary players are better than the Pens', it's Toews who brings it out of them.

TOEWS VS. CROSBY

REPORTER: "Who's your best forward this year (2010 Canadian Olympic Team)?"
MIKE BABCOCK: "Whoever's playing with Toews."

The difference in 2014 was, Toews WAS the best forward on the team throughout the tournament. It was obvious.

Crosby plays in a different—and lesser (sorry, just a fact)—conference. Toews does so many things up and down the ice that helps his team win, period. Crosby is a good overall player and the best ffensive player in the game who can score like nobody's business. It's a valid argument. But I go with Toews because of all he does.

- John Jaeckel

Crosby is the best player in the world. Toews is an unreal talent that both thinks the game and competes at an extraordinary level. Crosby is still the best player in the world. In 5 years Toews may pass him, as he has been closing the gap, but until Toews becomes nearer the scorer Crosby is, Toews won't be able to lay claim to best player in the world title. I would think that would be the consensus opinion of most hockey fans of teams other than the Hawks and Pens who are all, and rightfully, somewhat biased for their guy.

Before you guys say anything about not being on tv, know how many time I've heard the phrase"regular season doesn't matter so I only watch the playoffs"

Such a farce

- ezekial

So (frank)ing true.

"Playoffs are the only thing that matter. Rick Nash is invisible in the playoffs. Overpaid and overrated!" Yea but he still scored 26 goals in just 65 games and was on pace for 39 goals and 78 points after the lockout year.

"Brassard only scored 45 points last regular season! Overpaid!" Yea but he scored 24 points in 35 games for the Rangers in the playoffs....

Name the team who was last place in attendance in 2007.

80% of hawks fans haven't even been watching hockey for 10 years. When I was younger I used to get ripped on for liking hockey, now #hawksgreatestfranchiseever.

>Name the team that was the laughingstock of the NHL for years
>Had the nickname "Dead Wings"
>Features included a nearly empty Joe
>Franchise saved by a change in ownership

What's funny is what you list as your location. Do you actually believe the Rangers are a better team than the Hawks or is that like an April fools joke?

J Hayes signed a one yr one way contract. Florida desperately nreds to draw more fans. Perhaps Tallon would advertise "come see the brothers Hayes play...oart if the youth driving the Panthers to an exciting playoff.

Well Tallon has to tell maybe a little white lie should Kevin not be ready for prime time.

I would guess that if wiz had an update on these two youngsters, it might say: " No worries. Skating improved for both. They are not as likely to fall down. Together they may even record a few hits each game. They will not become legends except in their own minds."

If their play disappoints. Panthers could set up some seating outside under palm trees in the warm weather and serve cocktails. A big screen would show the Panthers in their heyday - Stankey Cup. See exciting hockey even if the Hayes brothers sort of suck.

Yeah. this is incorrect. The question was what is your best line. Babcock answered whoever is playing with Toews.

I'll concede that Crosby has more points and displays more flashy skill level... But I'll sub that with everything Toews has done and what his complete package is as a hockey player.

Anyone throwing negatives against Crosby or Toews are fools, it's simply who would you rather have. I personally can't pick Toews over Crosby, I know big surprise.... If you throw out the whole age and future years, I think Datsyuk and Toews is a tough choice. Very evenly matched...

Howe over Lemiuex JJ? Really ?

I'll give you Gretz and Orr only because Bobby was playing during your time

I said earlier - if you had either one, you wouldn't trade him for the other.

But you would build you team around him (as much as you can in hockey).

I am not a fan of Crosby at all. He is a better player than Toews though.

And the whole Orr Gretzky debate is laughable. Its Orr. All day long.

Gratzky was the best point producer the game will ever see. Orr was the best hockey player. Orr could do it all. Skate. Hit. And kick the ever-loving poop out of you if you were stupid enough to drop the gloves with him.

And Hull always gets undervalued as one of the best ever. Guy was mauled every game. And he played most of his career with Chico (frank)ing Maki as his center.

Erik Karlsson makes my list before Giroux.. Man if that guy had a #2 or even a ligit #3 D partner in Ottawa

I think he's back to %100 after his Achilles injury.. Watch out for this generational defensmen this upcoming season.

Bob McKenzie put it this way. Clone Gretzky 19 times, clone Orr 19 times, give both teams a comparable goalie and who wins a 7 game series? Team Orr wins 4 straight going away because Orr could stop Gretzky, Gretzky could not stop Orr.

I'd take Orr as well. A defenseman who won the scoring title and was named the best defensemen the same season will never be accomplished again.

- paulr

Clone Mr. Howe 19 times and the Howes beat up the Orrs and the Gretzkys, for the win.

BTW, the Hockey News Top 100 had Gretzky over Orr, with Gordie 3rd

And to get the goaltender debate started, #1 is George Vezina. They named the freaking award after him.

And the best goaltender tandem was the St. Louis Blues with Glenn Hall and Jaque Plante. Both past their primes, but got a not so good Blues team to the SCF.

I saw Gordie play a few times in person. Toughest SOB on the ice. And Ted Lindsay wasn't too shabby either.

Orr didn't fight too often, the rest of the big bad Bruins usually took care of matters.

Gordie has a hat trick named after him.... a goal, an assist, a fight.... speaks volumes.

I think I read that he only had that hat trick once in his career.

EDIT to change that to twice in his career.

And here I was, about to dial up an order for my Maxim Shalunov Hawks jersey when I heard he's taking a two year 'hiatus' to go back to Russia...

So much for that.

Will have to go with my second choice, Kevin Hayes.
