Where was McDonagh in the finals? - paulr
He had 4 points in 5 games, was a +1, and averaged 33 minutes of ice time a game? |

Thank you sir...I try to be as objective as I can, which is hard because of how much i can't stand Chara, lol - andru2797
Lol, I am waiting for all the Flames fans to come charging in and yell at you for not putting Giordano on the list though. |

Pavel Datsyuk simply doesn't have it anymore with his old ass...
If your list doesn't have him, your list is huff.
And I hate Crosby but he's #1. - ezekial
great skill and shot, but this particular goal was helped a lot by whoever Wing that was driving to the net. Took both defenders. |

Yea as good as I find Subban and he definitely deserves to be in the Top 10, when he misses his body checks he tends to leave his goalie out to dry as that's something I noticed from him while watching the playoffs this year. When he does connect though it makes for a great highlight reel & exposure. - PaskySens
Most of his body checks come in time of need. It's when the team is being out played, trying to turning the tide. High risk High reward thing. I will tell you it gets me pissed off when he misses it, or sometime even connects as it takes him out of the play, but if Price then does the save, which he usually does, the momentum usually shifts. This is why he's know to be one of the best game changers. |

But where was Subban? - Blackstrom2
The point is anyone can have a bad game or series. Judging McDonagh against Subban during one series is as stupid as writing off McDonagh because he was AWOL for one series. |

Ask and ye shall receive:
1. Keith - 2 Norris trophies, 2 Cups, 2 Gold Medals.
2. Doughty - 2 Cups, can dominate at both ends.
3. Weber - A crime he hasn't won a Norris yet.
4. Suter - Can a 100-million dollar player be underrated? Does it all, and very well.
5. Subban - One of the most impactful players in the game.
6. Karlsson - His offense cannot be overlooked.
7. Chara - Even in his declining years, still one of the most dominant defenseman in his own zone.
8. McDonagh - 8, and climbing. The sky's the limit. Has many of the tools that Keith has.
9. Hedman - Still a lot of untapped potential, but improving every season.
10. Pietrangelo - Excels at both ends, but has yet to find the extra gear to enter the game's elite dmen. - andru2797
Good list, but I would make a few adjustments:
Doughty
Weber
Keith
Karlsson
Suter
Chara
Subban
Pietrangelo
Ekman-Larsson
McDonagh
Hedman a close 11 as this was definitely his breakout year. I can see Chara dropping more as his age will become a factor.

The only series where McDonagh was "AWOL" was the Flyers series because he had an injured shoulder. |

Don't kid yourself, I thought of him, lol... he had a great season on a not-so-great team. Underrated player.
By the way all, the Blues just signed Peter Mueller to a 2-way deal. If healthy, he can be a real good addition. |

Another thing to consider re: Orr/Gretzky
Orr put up insane numbers as a defenseman (and a GREAT defensive defenseman) in an era playing against a much less diluted talent pool. He had to face Hull/Mikita, Beliveau, Howe, guys like that night after night.

But none will, because all of the over-hyping you all think happens is really just y'all thinking that's what Leafs fans do. It's kind of weird and obsessive. |

I never said Toews is better than Crosby. All I said was Toews is on the PK because he's good defensively and offensively. - rangerdanger94
Well you posted on something in which I was discussing with another poster who does believe that so how was I to know. My point stands. There are a lot of players that are good penalty killers but it does not make them the best in the world. |

I think the top-9 are pretty much settled. Last spot seems to be between the two Swedes. Argument can possibly made for Seabrook or Gio. |

Here's an interesting question though: how many elite players are also elite penalty killers? Bergeron, Kopitar, Toews, Hossa, Datsyuk, Zetterberg... There are more that aren't. |

Yea pretty much, we can almost say that there's 11 players that can all get swapped in different positions depending on who you ask. Then next year the list will look different considering the amount of young guys on it. I barely had Hedman in my top 20 last year but he definitely improved this season along with the rest of TB. |

Some of it is also Coaches deployment. I mean Crosby can probably kill penalties just fine if placed in the position but why waste his time when he can use those minutes to score goals? |
