So Crosby vs West opponents: 26 games, 35 points for a 1.346 ppg
In the easy East: 56 games, 69 points for a 1.232 ppg - l3ig_l2ecl
But how were his penalty kills vs the West? |

Hate on me for favortism, but if anyone will do it in today's NHL it's Karlsson. Last year was considered a bad year for him, and he finished 6th or 7th in Norris Trophy voting yet was 14th in the NHL in points. 30 points behind Crosby mind you but only 13 points behind Getzlaf for 2nd overall & points back of a Top 10. The year he won his Norris he finished 11th overal, 29 points behind Malkin, 3 points back of a Top 10.
All this while playing with an inferior team and before his 24th birthday. Now I'm not saying it's for sure going to happen but if someone would do what only Orr can do I think he would be a good bet, depending on how the Sens improve their roster and if Crosby gets injured that year lol - PaskySens
But if the Norris trophy was voted for the best defenseman like it used to be, Karlson would never had won it. Neither would Subban probably. To say either are better than Weber is just ignorant. If however voting was done back then the way it is now, Phil Housley would have won it numerous times. That's why there should be two trophies. Best offensive defenseman and best defensive defenseman. They do it for forwards, why not d men? |

I don't see many Habs fan on here saying Subban is better than Weber. I agree if people do say that it's ignorant. |

Why don't we just make it so everybody gets a trophy and gets to go home happy with something for their trophy case.
Just kidding, I like your idea. |

Another thing to consider re: Orr/Gretzky
Orr put up insane numbers as a defenseman (and a GREAT defensive defenseman) in an era playing against a much less diluted talent pool. He had to face Hull/Mikita, Beliveau, Howe, guys like that night after night. - John Jaeckel
Correct, Orr changed the NHL.
Hulls speed/shot/stick changed offence,
The Great one awoke North America to hockey.
One cold argue Tony 0 changed the goalie position but does not belong on this list.
Towes changed the way players in the future will be paid |

It is very simple...Crosby is the best offensive player in the game and Toews is the best all-around player in the game. THE END. Also, it is shocking to see all these Flyers fans on Cindy's nuts... |

I agree Gretzky had an easy era... But you cannot argue his records .. He's number one all time...and Crosby is number one right now as well.. I love teows too but...no one sees the Ice like Crosby - Canadianleaf

Haha, I'm just kidding. The guy is fantastic. I'm not a fan of his but he really is good. |

Goalie list is coming tomorrow. JJ said that in the first sentence of the blog. Not to rag on you, just saw a lot of people earlier who seemingly missed that part and were complaining that no goalies were on the list. |

I'd be interested to see what people think since a lot of posters are against the absurd idea that Toews is better than Crosby, is Toews hands down the #2 best player in the NHL then? - Dannyboy
I have toews #2 due to his team success - the guy is a winner but he'll probably never win MVP because of his point totals. Sid has both team and individual successes (i.e. 2 Harts +++) and to his credit has overcome some major injuries. Both have had success outside the NHL - Olympic golds, etc.
That said stammer is moving up that list fast... the guy has locked up 200 goals before he turned 24. i can't tell if its the blond hair or the wicked shot but he reminds me of a brett hull reincarnate.... and tampa as a team is looking better and better each season. |

Crosby is soft as baby poop......FACT.
But he is still better than Toews. Picking Toews over Crosby is currently trendy (unless you're a Hawks fan, then its just exposure/favoritism). The fact of the matter is that Pitt's GM would be FIRED if he traded Sid for Toews, whereas the Hawks would get better (and clear some cap space ) |

Lets put it this way, who would you rather have as your 1C in game 7 of the stanley cup finals?
Crosby or Toews? |

So what your saying is that Crosby couldn't produce as he does if he was in the west?? Is that right? I'd call it bull. The west for (frank) sakes. - RobFlyers#1
I wonder if someone can pull his scoring stats vs west and east. My bet is he is .3-.4 better per game in the east |

Discrediting somebody's opinion because of the team they root for sounds an awful lot like something everyone was doing to "Hawks fans" pre-sucking bad enough to build a great team. - SolidGoldBricks

I'll back you up on this one, even as a Hawks fan. But not only for on-ice reasons. Crosby means way too much to that organization. Trading him for anyone right now would undo everything they've built around him, on the ice and especially off. |
