cool, I honestly havent seen enough of Tavares to make a fair comparison but I believe Kopi is the Kings best player by a landslide is he has gotta be the most underrated player in the NHL (though he is starting to get some recognition) I do hope JT kicks ass for you guys - dprice818
Drew Doughty? Jo Quick? I wouldn't call it a landslide. |

I would......most Kings fans will tell you that he is the heart and soul of the team. Quick is good as is DD .......a small to medium size landslide then |

Thanks man, but I think Doughty is your best player. When he wants to be he's the secondest best defender alive. He's good |

How about chris kreider? Not only is he fast and beats up phaneuf, but be takes out top 5 in the world ranked goalies in the playoffs which is more valuable than any PK. - rangerdanger94
I'm assuming that you are making a smart ass comment.
But I'll play along.
I guess you can not put a PRICE on that fact. |

Fair enough. Believe me I have TONS of respect for Kopitar. But for me, the case can be made for him or Doughty as the team's best player...depends on the night. |

Top 3 forwards yes, but Gretzky, Orr and Howe trump Lemieux. And I think Richard rounds out the Top 5.
As for the list of current players, Sedin should be replaced with Kopitar for sure, and how Stamkos was ranked 7th baffles me as he has passed Ovechkin if you ask me. I wouldn't have Keith in my Top 10 either, but then again I'd place Karlsson 10th so there's my homerism to the conversation. He is the most offensively gifted D in the game hands down, and has improved his defensive game drastically compared to 2-3 years ago.
Towes
Crosby
Malkin
Stamkos
Doughty
Kopitar
Ovechkin
Tavares
Getzlaf
Karlsson - PaskySens
Well, as long as you know it's homerism.... Because he's nowhere near a top 10 list of all players in the game today. He's towards the back end of a top 10 list of Dmen. |

Actually, quite similar and Crawford might even be on it. Kinda doubtful but he's close. |

It's the flavour of the day naming Toews over Crosby. It's ridiculous though. |

Kopitar was second only to Bergy in the Corsi numbers this last season.
Same thing for Chara and Bergy on the bruins. But they are different positions and your not going to be able to parse those atoms, so be happy and relax.
Especially since they are both in there prime and for us bs fans Chara may need a walker this season......while on the ice. |

TOEWS VS. CROSBY
REPORTER: "Who's your best forward this year (2010 Canadian Olympic Team)?"
MIKE BABCOCK: "Whoever's playing with Toews."
The difference in 2014 was, Toews WAS the best forward on the team throughout the tournament. It was obvious.
Crosby plays in a different—and lesser (sorry, just a fact)—conference. Toews does so many things up and down the ice that helps his team win, period. Crosby is a good overall player and the best ffensive player in the game who can score like nobody's business. It's a valid argument. But I go with Toews because of all he does. - John Jaeckel
So what your saying is that Crosby couldn't produce as he does if he was in the west?? Is that right? I'd call it bull. The west for (frank) sakes. |

the Kings players give it all to Kopitar including Carter and DD. On the playoff and Olympic stage, DD has definitely made a name for himself so I can understand your point of view |

I admittedly struggled with where to place him...but with goalies, I value mental toughness and winning. It played in his favor, and Price's and Quick's as well.
It's easier to ignore bad performances if the goalie is able to bounce back from them. Not all of em can.
I am thinking about lending more weight to Lu's twitter account though...he's very entertaining |

Crosby.... - prock
Maybe, but LONG way to go.
Here's some fuel to the fire: If Crosby goes on to win 3-4 more Harts and 6-7 more Art Ross trophies (but NO MORE Cups), and Toews goes on to win say 3 more Cups and 1-2 more Conn Smythes by the time both careers are done, who will have had a career more worthy of an all-time mention? |

I'd be interested to see what people think since a lot of posters are against the absurd idea that Toews is better than Crosby, is Toews hands down the #2 best player in the NHL then? |

It's absurd - RobFlyers#1
Crosby: three ted Lindsey awards
Toews: none
Toews has never even got onto the first all-star team. He is a winner though. But look at the teams he has played for.
But if we are judging winners I would rather have pronger at 25 versus toews at 25. |

I think they're 1 and 2, yes. I also think Malkin is a closer 3rd than most probably do. Plus he's the silliest of the top 3. |

That's not even close it's still Crosby by a country mile. Stanley Cups are team awards. As I stated earlier this method of thinking would make Kevin Lowe a better defencemen than Bobby Orr. |

So Crosby vs West opponents: 26 games, 35 points for a 1.346 ppg
In the easy East: 56 games, 69 points for a 1.232 ppg |

Now that's a debate but he has Malkin and Stamkos to contend with there. |
