I would be fine with either. Though I think Ryan will at the very least test FA. This rule rule giving pending UFAs a week to talk to teams really creates a scenario where there is little to no reason for the player not to take advantage of it. Kane will cost significant assets, that's my only worry with him. Chris Stewart is a guy I would have interest in too. Obviously a step down from Ryan and Kane though.

Bobby Ryan and Evander Kane are definitely high on my list. I like Chris Stewart a lot, it also helps that he's one of Wayne Simmonds' best friends. I would even take James van Reimsdyk back in a heartbeat because think we're missing him right now.

I found this interview with Evander Kane this evening. From the sounds of things in Winnipeg, he's taking a lot of heat. If he's not happy there I totally understand but people are making it sound like he's already got his bags packed. I found an interview with Kane which impressed me. I like his personality, he doesn't strike me as a stupid kid. Maybe a little bit of a distraction but nothing that should hurt or cost his team.

Being black myself, I can absolutely relate. Heck, doing something as little as playing NHL14 on Xbox live, if people find out I'm black, the unnecessary ignorance gets thrown around. Without rambling further, I really like how he carries himself. Even putting the race card aside, I think this interview says a lot about how some on this board can act at times.

Rinaldo, to me, is too loose of a cannon. If he's out there hitting and getting on teams' nerves, that's fine. But for every 5 good things he does, he does something ridiculous like jumping Roussell or taking an unnecessary head shot at that guy on Buffalo. He's quite the liability, and with things as close as they are, his stupid penalties can be the difference in 2-3 games that cost us a playoff spot.

In a way I agree with you, but we also need a player like him. Who else do we have that plays on an edge? We cant be a soft team to play against. He is also one of the fastest if not the fastest skater on the team. He smoked Voracek in a race....

He would bring a much needed element on the left side. That said, the Flyers really have to find a way to move Vinny's contract to make it work. Ryan might give the Flyers preference but he isn't going to come with a 4 million dollar cap hit. His addition would mean a significant subtraction elsewhere.

In a couple of seasons, Ryan's production is going to go the way of Dany Heatley... I'd rather the Flyers not be on the hook when that happens.

You can find guys with an edge who can actually play hockey at a NHL level are are not huge liabilities when it comes to stupid penalties

I'd rather target Evander Kane. Same size, younger and faster, just as physical a player, possibly more talented.

He's never played with a Getzlaff, but he's had a 30 goal season on his resume.

Bobby Ryan can be had in UFA. Kane will require hard assets.

I'd rather the team, as a whole, be a tough team to play against, in the vein of LA or Boston (attitude, not sill, yet) as opposed to having 1-2 tough guys.

And what would be looking at in Free Agency in a year? 7M+?
