I don't think he'll remain there all year but will be given the chance to start the year. I feel a guy like david booth if healthy or possibly santorelli could fill the remaining top 6 role.

Clarkson needs to be on 2nd line to be effective. He needs to play with offensive players.

He's not a checker... isn't overly good defensively.
He SHOULD get enough time on 2L to develop chemistry and get his confidence back... and for crying out loud put him on the PP!!!

No - he played mostly 3rd line last year, and there are a number of wingers capable of stepping up to that line throughout the season.

I just hope Clarkson sticks to his game: jumping off the bench to throw some hugs and protecting the dignity of the team's equipment and other superfluous items important to the boys like water bottles, tape, etc.

Well, if the $$ is anything like the other recent signings, it's pretty good.

Younger, more offensively gifted version of McClement.

Lots of competition going into training camp... no idea how the lines are going to shake out.

We know the 5 guys who'll be in the top-6... but then you've got Frattin, Komarov, Holland, Santorelli, Booth, Clarkson, Bodie, Ashton, Kontiola, Orr and Winnik... 11 guys to fill out the remaining 7 spots.

Orr's probably as good as gone... and probably Ashton... so maybe Frattin and Bodie will be the extra forwards?

I'm guessing they'll carry 2 extra forwards. They really don't have the depth on D to carry 8 d'men this year. 14 fwds and 7 dmen. Although a trade or 3 could change all of that.

Thanks guys! I do think that if Booth can stay healthy and play like he did before he gets injured, he can help the leafs more on a second line than Clarkson.

I was happy when I saw the our first game was against the leaf, always a good way to start a season witha big game versus an all time rival!
