Andrew, you will have a couple of visitors in uniforms tonight at your door.

I have a hard time believing any cops really care. I'm certain a good number of them light up right after their pee test, knowing another one isn't coming for a few months.

booze would affect you more than weed as far as pro athletes go. Just sayin
- clark_griswold

In a bad way, right? I can see that, for sure. I know if you're serious about working out, your alcohol intake should be somewhere below 0.

i'll have a beer before now. no more than that. if i were to smoke now i'd just be in space. not in the shape i used to be so the effect is certainly different. on me anyway. back in the day though i would get so locked in. it was awesome.

i hear ya. I'm 33 and play with a team full of ex junior and college guys. Now it's more about the beers after the game (and before to be honest). I found playing once a week is tough, twice makes a huge difference.

to your point, even one beer before makes me lazy. And none of us are in the shape we were once in LOL

Well, THC will let you go through the pain easier... so you can bounce back to your work-out... in theory, anyways.

My muscles are always stiffer the morning after a j.

To clarify, I was broadly referring to any substance - drugs, pills, booze - whatever.

Most hockey players love the sauce. It's part of the culture to be honest. Obviously they are curtailing the partying but read any bio like Roenicks, proberts, etc. The sauce flows around the NHL and game of hockey, coaches included. Probert said guys used to go for beers before the game to get in the zone

I personally smoke a few darts only when drinking (stupid i know) and know tons of players who are the same. Darts are common and more common than ppl know.

Being non loaded for sure would affect the booze bags though; there you have a point.

Booze is a huge part of society in general.
Heck, I've been thinking about having a beer all day!

Beer used to be a breakfast drink, before coffee became popular

Dark beer especially... lots of nutrients once you get past the alcohol... and having a bit of a buzz can keep you from overthinking the game... something that screws with a lot of guys from time to time.

Weed on the other hand... man, I couldn't imagine being expected to perform infront of tens of thousands of cheering/jeering fans when a wave of thc-induced paranoia comes along.

Animals love it too... they eat fermented fruits to get their buzz on

Edit:
If you've ever had Amarula(it's like Baileys) you might have seen the elephant on the bottle. That's because elephants chow down on the marula fruit when it's ripe.

I'd be worried if I was this Kontiola guy.

2 seasons of small rink hockey, 6-7 years ago.

I don't like his chances of making the big club now.

- Atomic Wedgie

i've never watched him play but there's a quote out there from his agent, Gandler, that says the team told him he's "penciled" in as the 3rd line centre. I assume they lined him up to play with Komarov - who was also promised a bigger role.

I think Kontiola and Holland are probably "penciled" into the 3/4 centre spots.

Disappointing that Kuli and Bolland left, but those prices were untenable for the leafs. I didn't like the Gunnar trade so much, but replacing Gleason with Robidas is a firm upgrade.

Other moves I like included letting Mason Raymond walk (I don't think you'll miss him one bit) and the two recent value signings, each of whom I'm fairly confident will outperform their contract. Whatever you do with Reimer, that's a fair contract for a backup. Bringing back a fan favourite in Komarov and testing out another KHLer are low-risk, high-reward

I'm not familiar with most of the draft selections by the leafs, but if it was between Nylander, Ritchie and Ehlers, you probably made the right choice for where you guys are at. Nylander is obviously more skilled than Ritchie, and will likely be NHL-ready before Ehlers.

In the front-office the leafs rejuvenated their stock with some pretty highly regarded outside opinions.

All in all, I think that's one of the better leafs offseasons in the past couple.
