I'll tell you what: I won't post any more signing, or trade TALKS int he future. I'm 40 years old, I've been involved in hockey since I was 5, and been paid to be a part of hockey since I was 18. I am around agents, players and G.M's because I actually played at a pro level for oh, about 13 years. A lot of my friends are still in the NHL, and now some of my friends sons are playing the OHL and have player reps and agents like PAT MORRIS who I hang with regularly!! Hey, I mentioned the Winnik signing because I was with Pat when he did it. I've also been hanging around Kyle Dubas since last year (when he drafted my son to play for the Greyhounds!!!) so bash all you want....it will be the last time you get anything from me Atomic Wedgie!!!

Here's the deal:

Reimer and Franson for Clitsome and a 2nd or 3rd rounder provided they (the jets) get him off the LTIR.

The deal gives the leafs $5 million in cap relief, bring in a stay at home D man that they can either re-sign or let go in a season, it also allows them to continue talks with Broduer and Thomas at $1 million 1 year deal. That leaves the leafs $4 million in more cap relief which they want to target a bigger name D man from 1 of the several teams that will start the season over the cap or right up against it. Oduya is 1 of the d-men they are looking at as well but wont target him without extra $$$ behind them.
The deal also gives the leafs a 2nd rounder or 3rd that may be as high as 35 coming from the Jets. They are going to sign these 1 year deals to make the players earn a spot on this team while developing their younger players via the marlies/ohl etc. This is the winning formula in their eyes and I agree.

They do not want to deal with Franson or his agent moving forward and will never sign him again so dealing him for Clitsome (a guy who stays at home and blocks shot) is the best return they will get. Reimer fetched a 3rd rounder by the Blue Jackets and that's the best offer they had so the 2nd coming back from the Jets would be significant. Reimer doesn't want to be here, and the leafs don't see him as a #1 goalie...the jets do. that's why they signed him to a 2 year deal, that was part of the contingency coming from the Jets
Kyle Dubas lives by the book " the extra 2%" which is a business orientated book about the Tampa Bay Rays....pretty good read.

If you are going to pout....you should probably hold out longer than 3 minutes.

You should talk to my wife....she knows how to play the silent treatment game.

here's the thing

weber and suter are matched against the likes of Kessel

Franson is matched against the likes of Zibanejad and Conacher

see the difference?

- Dozzer

could you not argue that his contract reflects that then? Maybe expectations are too high? I am just a bit tired of the constant negative bashing of Leaf players. It's bad enough that trolls do it, but our fan base does it way too much as well. Player X gets labelled as the current scape goat and all the focus is on every single mistake they make.

Lucic is a real tough guy....but mostly with smaller players
- Pea-Brain

I wish Dion would, just once, pull a classic out-of-position-prolly-get-scored-against lunging attempt to knock Lucic's head off.

The guy skates with his head down half the time, in slow motion, but everyone's afraid of hitting him. Where's Scott Stevens when we need him?

who cares...I'd rather not know...just be nice getting some scoop regardless if it comes to be factual or if the deal falls apart.

better than arguing over Phaneuf/Gardiner/Franson skills all day

i like both gunnar and polak. But ppl saying gunnar sucked makes me laugh. It was a good move for both, but we didn't get MUCH improved or much better. Polak plays more physical but gunnar was a very dependable solid D.
