not so much worried if they accept their roles or not, more interested in how they perform.

I believe Reimer comes with baggage
He wants to be a starter and can see him sulking if he plays just 20+ games
Only places he can really go is where there is a legit shot for him to start
Not too many of those places left

Perhaps the leafs tried to trade him after they acquired Jb last summer and there were no takers there as well

I agree, barring a miracle (Reimer flat out crushes Bernier next year) or a stroke of misfortune/luck (depending on who's looking at it), if Bernier was to get hurt next year and miss LTIRish number of games.
- gravyface

Well that guy with insider sources who keeps telling us all that he knows from said sources and has yet to be right said that Bernier wont be ready for the year.

He's only cheap to a team looking for a 1B, or with a startee on an ELC or Bridge

Teams paying starters over $5 m aren't looking for backups near league minimum to $1.5m.

- Big_Lightnin

The problem with young goalies is that they need a significant body of work behind them > 6000 minutes over a span of several seasons in order to truly evaluate them and consider them a legitimate starter and a good one at that.

Up until mid-way through last year, when Bernier left Reimer in the dust, we were almost certain that was Reimer: good numbers, took us to the playoffs, battled through injury recovery, etc.

But here we are, and people are questioning whether or not he's a starter or a backup in this league, not just the Leafs' starter.

Unfortunately for the teams, goalies follow the same contract regulations as skaters, so you're never quite sure what you have until well into their RFA years.

Take Carey Price for example: there were a ton of question marks on that guy, even when he was putting up really good numbers; and not just the Olympics, but whether or not to pay the guy, keep Halak, etc.

Wedgie is just out for attention

My broken watch was right twice yesterday.

A 4th liner - from Toronto. Anyone can guess that.

1 year contract? Wow, nobody ever could have guessed that.

Terms? Are you sure he called it? Pretty easy to edit after the fact.

My question remains - what magic NHL lounge exists in Tecumseh where MLSEL brass and agents talk casually, so that others can broadcast it on Hockeybuzz?

I suspect not, but it wont affect his play.

Nothing to this point suggests that hes a problem. Nothing suggest that hes anything but professional. Did you not see the interview from yesterday?

EDIT; Where does "20 games" come from?? He played more than that last year.

Regardless. His arguments about a Jets trade are interesting and as worthy of discussion as anything else on here.

Backups play that amount - he was cast as a 1b and then as an injury replacement upping his total of gp

If he stays in Toronto this year how many games does he get if Jb is the number 1 and healthy all year

Franson/Reimer for Clitsome and a second. Leafs fed up with Franson and Jets see Reimer as a starter.

Few pages back

Franson, Reimer, conditional 2nd or 3rd for Clitsome.

Terrible return for Leafs.

Not tha Clitsome is bad, but Franson for Clitsome straight up is a bad trade for leafs.

Bernier hasn't proven he can play that many games yet.

All the more reason for the leafs to find out if he can.

There will be no talk if 1A/B once the season starts I don't think, I would assume the expectation is Bernier plays 55-60 games.

Oh lordie.

Apparently he nailed the Winnick deal -- including salary -- but I'm still unconvinced.

I don't speak for all the fans, but c'mon: the lionshare of people on here (and the media/press) were all onboard a Reimer/Scrivens tandem. Bernier was out of the blue and you know it.

I'd do it man. And then with the extra cap space i'd get P.Sharp for cheap just for helping Chicago out.
