Yeah. They knew how to PLAY defense. Then you got defensemen who lead the league in hits these days and are always let a 2 on 1 occur afterwards. Lidstrom was the greatest. Who needed to hit when you had Konstantinov, Chelios, Stuart, Kronwall, Coffey, etc.. to do that for you. - YzermanIsTheMan

Tkachuk played half his career with the Coyotes/jets and the other slightly less than half with the Blues. But all his best years were in PHX and WPG so I think he should go in as a Coyote/Jet but who knows, you could be right.
And about Doan, that's why I broke it up as I did. Doan is the Coyotes, but no one else other than Tkachuk had five point per game seasons and hit 50 goals. - James_Tanner
We're not talking about the Jets. We're talking about the Coyotes and Tkachuk played 332 games in a coyotes jersey. You can't argue the fact the numbers he put up with the coyotes because it was just better than a point a game. Honestly most people would associate Tkachuk with the Blues before any other team. It's just my opinion that Doan being a life long Coyote and doing what he has done for that franchise would put him ahead of a guy who had five statistically good seasons for the Coyotes. I will agree or say that Tkachuk was probably the most talented. |

Would most people associate Tkachuk with the Blues? I don't but I can't be trusted. I associate Gretzky with the 'Yotes.......Ok, I don't but you get my point. |

Sadly no. Not even an ironic one, of which there were many.

You're living in fantasy land. Yes 99% of people when asked, "Keith Tkachuk, what team do you think of him on?" would answer Blues.
Why not just pick Bobby Hull then based on your methodology, he was with the "team". Or hell Brett for that matter he played like 6 games. |

You guys realize hockey players enter the HHOF as individuals not associated with any one team right? |

Neidemeyer, Lidstrom, Pronger, Stevens, Rafalski, Foote, Chelios.. 1990s-2000s were the golden era of defensemen I think. - YzermanIsTheMan
Hey, you forgot Leetch.
I put OEL in the same category as McDonagh(queue the snarky little kids calling me a homer). Coyotes fans view him the same way rangers fans view Mac. We know our guy is elite, we know they are one of the top guys in the league, and only getting better, but they haven't been put into that category by the major media and rest of the hockey world yet. YET. That will change very soon, for both players.
I don't get to see many coyotes games, but you're right, he is fun to watch. |

Actually at this point in their careers I would put McDonagh ahead OEL... In my opinion he's far better defensively but I think OEL has more upside not reached yet |

Was gonna post something similar. McDonagh and OEL are well known but still underrated which goes to show just how good they really are. I dont think theres more than 5 defensemen I'd choose over McDonagh if that even considering his age and contract. |

This kinda stuff is great. I mean, I would love to know how many games you watched each player play before coming to what I suspect is a rather arbitrary decision.
I don't know one single person, that is qualified to do so, that would say that.
