Cost is high from Wng. - jake24242
Good start. Leafs would be in an overpay situation. Kane is Winnipeg's problem, they should be finding buyers, not the other way around. |

I just can't see a trade that works... Leafs would need to ditch salary, and I don't think 'peg wants to take on any of what the Leafs would need to dump. Would probably have to include Lupul. Plus, I don't think the Leafs want to trade Kadri without getting a 2nd C in return. - SolidGoldBricks
Lupal was injured and scored more goals then Kane who was also injured so not rly a cap dump in lupal. |

Yes. Leafs aren't actually gaining much in an exchange with Winnipeg because it doesn't address their needs. |

OK, back on track. Give me the best reason why the Leafs wont't trade for E. Kane. - elcabong
Acquiring a top 6 winger is no where near an organizational priority currently, and the assets required to acquire the player makes any trade a lateral proposition because you will have to subtract from the current roster to add Kane. Not to mention based on track record to date - combined with off-ice issues - this player is not enough of an upgrade as it stands currently, and there is no guarantee he matures and realizes his potential. |

On the larger sample though, Lupul is injured a lot more often than Kane, is older, and has a pretty big contract. Lupul is one of my favorite Leafs, but I'm not sure why a team would take him in exchange for a young stud like Kane unless they were getting something else nice in return. |

nah ah, 2nd/3rd line with out a doubt, kids a good one - PinkSock
he's good but whether that translates full time is another question. I've watched him play back to his days in Guelph and he has the smarts. However, saying he is a 2nd line centre without a doubt is pretty lofty considering he hasn't done anything yet in the NHL. Yes he's young, and i think he's a player, but a 2nd liner? Not so sure. We can hope though. His offense has never been out of this world and he's not overly physical. For as much as i criticize Nazem, he is a 2nd liner. |

Whatever Kane has over any of the pieces going back, his reputation would need to be taken into account as a minus, no? |

Totally agree. Bad attitudes are a huge drawback but some posters on here seem to disagree.
Kane is a douche. THere's a reason teams try to dump headaches like this. |

Can anyone really justify calling him a douche? Does anyone know him personally, or are they just prejudice to people taking comical pictures where they use a stack of cash as a phone?
The guy is heavily involved in charities and giving back to the community, but that's all over shadowed by the fact that he took a picture in Vegas and missed a team meeting?
I understand he's not a perfect NHL player attitude wise, but honestly, it really shouldn't be a drawback to having him on a team. |

"Yes, I myself am getting tired of writing about the Maple Leafs. While rumors in Toronto always exist i have sort of prided myself on being very picky when it comes to weeding through the many, many rumors which surround this team. "
Maybe apply that same philosophy to your never ending Flyer rumours and updates... |

Then, if you're right, all these rumors are unfounded. There's no way Winnipeg is going to trade such a valuable asset. We know there is a little more to it than that, though. |

Yes, I think so. Especially when it comes to Toronto. A strong lockerroom with some good veteran voices and I think it would be less of a drawback. I don't think anybody thinks the Leafs have a strong leadership group in the lockerroom though. |

coaches don't bench players that make that much money for no reason. Also, when there is smoke, there is usually some fire (rumors of attitude problems and rifts with teammates).
Why is Winnipeg trying to trade him? |
