There's been plenty like that though. A few years back Brad Winchester was training with a few of the Canucks for like 7-10 before camp, everyone thought for sure that he was getting signed or at least a tryout. He ended up getting a PTO with the Sharks I think instead.

They could of waited to get him and asked him ok what are your thoughts on him from a puck possession stand point. And thats why they waited this long to get the deal done.

I think Nonis is getting all the players he can for 1 year deals and hope a few of them gain a lot of value over the season and then trade them at the deadline for free assets.

Yes i agree so far this has been the case but i think he took big steps foward last year in he offseason training and can only get better this summer and be more able to crash the net and such on his own. Personally id like lupal back with kessel because i see jvr being able to play better without kessel then Lupal has shown.
