Jvr is legit first line material and Im not biased. Its not just based on pure offense, he is a great net presence, great attitude, playoff performer, kills penalties and has soft hands. His size definitely makes him a 1st liner but he is a 1st liner

You take away a player playing with someone like Kessel and their production will go down. That doesn't mean he's not a 1st liner. Kane has talent, maybe not as much as some of the trade offers would suggest, but he's a very attractive player.

His problem is that he has issues between the ears. Until he stops acting like a spoiled teenager I want nothing to do with him. The Leafs have enough talent to compete...what they lack is strong character.

25 goals, 20-25 assists. I see where you're coming at with this and you're pretty much right. Tit for tat. I just see more of an upside for JVR still. I see his plateau at 34-35 goals and a total of 75 points for a season. Kane I see maybe mid sixties in points at his highest with the same line mates at his peak. Who knows, though, cause they'll both stay where they are for the foreseeable future.

a fair statement, however, kane will not net much more than a solid roster player and a prospect / pick imo

You think so or is there an actual source? Is it a coincidence that both he and Winnik have decent possession numbers?

I don't really follow any Leafs news guys on Twitter so I just assumed Dubas had a say in both, or at least Winnik.
