In terms of Gillis, all I have to say is he probably avoided a massive stroke/heart-attack. Those last days when he was being interviewed were painful to watch (just take a look at the difference between that and the photo of him on the water after he caught that 10,230 pound tuna - like night and day). I think, at least for his family, it was a blessing in disguise that he got let go

Which ever one I decided to eat. Although I think the one on the left might be slightly more fatty.

I love it .I have been 8 times in the last 14 days. Now time for a beer and BBQ.

The GF and I are going to buy a kid pool for the back yard and a cooler. On hot days I won't even need to get up to go pee after too many beer.

I would argue that the criticism toward Mike Gillis was more pushed by the media and the fans eventually had enough near the end. Its the media though that pushed and drove the voice to criticism. I just found it funny that the title of the Sportsnet article said it was hard to handle "fan" criticism by his daughter. Sportsnet's Mark Spector was on a 2 year crusade every 2 of 3 stories seemingly critiquing the incompetence of Mike Gillis and riling up the masses. I was starting to wonder if Gillis slept with Spectors wife it was so personal. Is it just because Mark hates the Canucks so much? well he centainly hated Mike. Just funny how Sportsnet twists it around to make it sound like it was mostly fan driven. Between CBC and Sportsnet, they pretty much destroyed Mike Gillis image, character assasination with out the help of the fans, who always felt on the defensive, like there team was under scrutny from every direction.

Agreed. Although, mg should have known his moves and non moves would draw criticism if they failed. He was arrogant and the easterners were only too willing to throw the Canucks under the bus. Guys like dredger always seem to mail it in when it comes to any Canucks related analysis. These guys can't even be bothered to do their homework such as seeing shoot totals or watching games.

Why is it that so many of the recent Canuck gm's have fallen into, keeping the "core" intact mentality that eventually gets stale. The # of ntc's may be an indicator of this love of the core concept.

Dont kid yourself, after pursuing this tuna for a season and a half, he tried to trade 2 first rounders for it and it turned out to be 140 pounds instead of 10,230 like our scouts told him. Those extra large sunglasses are to hide extra large eye bags.

If Benning is thinking of deploying Virtanen, this summer could be interesting.

We know we still have to trade one goalie. I also imagine Trader Jim will also be looking to move one of Burrows Hansen or Higgins

Has he earned that yet?

You have to admit we were an easy team to hate. Diving shinning hair pulling biting ,led by a pompous ass.

I think Dorsett Mathias and Sestito will bring a more honest type of toughness rather than the Kesler Laperierre days . I don't think we will be DB anymore.
