Reimer, Pavelec, what difference does it make? 2 mediocre goalies who you're not going to win anything with. if everything that you say about him is true, Toronto would not have traded for Bernier.

Toronto traded for Bernier because of management.Tim Leiweke came from L A he had the connections to bring over a Big name in Bernier thats the only reason we got Bernier,I really do like Bernier but....Reimer braught the leafs to the playoffs for the first time in 9 years...He won more games standing on his head the first two years he started since any goaltender we had since Belfour,he had one bad year because he was told,assured and praised that he was and is going to be Torontos number 1 goalie and then before Bernier ever played a game he was told (under the table shh shh) he was torontos number 1,Bernier is Leiwekes boy plain and simple.

He's not an unbelievable starter. The Leafs had the chance to get a goalie who could be elite one day so they jumped on the chance. Reimer can be a top 15 starter in the nhl one day.

It's the year of the 4th liner I guess, not surprising those deals were all Canadian teams and the Reto Berra deal was a deadline deal where Colorado likely overpaid but he has high expectations. My logic is if Cheveldayoff is going to give up a 2nd rounder for a goaltender he can do much better than Reimer, I cant see him as a legitimate starter in the NHL.

Reimer is a legit starter, now that said he's not a Carey Price or Tukka Rask, but playing behind that porous defence he is as good as a Fleury, Howard, Crawford, Niemi, Mason, Holtby, Bishop or about the remaining 2/3 of the leagues starters.

Lupul is decent 20 goal winger on a team that needs leadership, not sure I would call him a has-been at 30, but he has been a consistent player for the last 3 yrs. Franson is a 26yr old guy who is cheap and can be useful on the powperplay in Byf's absence.

You make is sound like Leaf's players are garbage, Buyfuglien is not very different from Lupul bro...20 goal minus scoring winger. But he is slow and been called selfish. Can he play defence (really no), but he can play the point on the PP, but is better in front.

The trade would be as much of a swap than anything, need for need.

There would be much better offers for Buff than a fringe starter, an injury prone has been and a defensive liability defender

you failed to mention Lupul is injury prone, has never played a full season in his NHL career (missed significant time his last 3 seasons) and is making 5.25M for the next 5 years. That's an expensive 20 goal winger ain't it? Why would Winnipeg handcuff themselves like that?
