If Reimer is traded, the Leafs are left with only 2 back up goalies.

L.A was banking on him being their franchise goalie but Quick stole his spot when he won a cup. They in no way whatsoever labeled him as a backup goalie.

According to some reports even they contemplated dealing Quick and keeping Bernier.

Yes, and Rask would be the "backup" if he was on the same team as Lundqvist....

Rask, Price, Quick, Lundqvist, Schneider, Miller, Bernier, Luongo, Varlamov, Lethonen are easily better than Reimer right now and some of them by a mile (unfair comparisons)

Harding (when MS is ok) is easily better but he has MS so I'd ve more comfortable with Reimer.
Crawford is better, Bishop was better (small sample), Anderson at his best is better but at his worse is definitely not, I would put Halak ahead only cause he has more experience and cause I will always love him for the playoff run he gave us.

I feel Reimer could start right now or 1B (ignoring contracts, purely from a talent point of view) for Winnipeg, Ottawa, maybe Washington (Reimer=Holtby? That's not far off), Carolina, Edmonton, Anaheim (have Anderson and Gibson proven their better yet? Their ceiling is tho), Buffalo, Minnesota, Philly? (Mason=Reimer maybe?), St Louis (IMO Elliott might be the most overrated goalie in the NHL, his numbers look damn good tho but I think that's cause of Stl, he would of gotten massacred in Toronto).
A
Any disagreements? I'm a goalie and these are opinions

EDIT : totally forgot Rinne... I may have forgotten others too

- CFunk89

Agreed with the majority of what your saying ..but even you say if Elliott played in Toronto he would have gotten massacred. .how about Reimer has been playing in Toronto first two years very impressive third year was bad ..because of the hole Bernier thing. .In the overall picture Reimer numbers are excellent especially playing for the leafs the last few years easily one of the worst shots against teams in the NHL

Reimer, Kadri, JVR, Reilly, Nylander, Gardiner and a 1st round pick for Kane and Big Buf might get it done. Toronto may have to add another piece like Bernier.

Oh ya I agree, Reimer is better then he's given credit for IMO and I think he can rebound (either with another team or maturing in his role with the Leafs as 1B), I was just answering a post where someone only mentioned a handful of goalies were better. Elliott definitely wouldn't of had success in Toronto and Reimer would probably be a richer man today if he played for a team like stl.

Ps I think it's a good thing for the Leafs to keep Reimer cause they need a solid backup... It's risky to think Bernier can repeat last year (it's very possible) but it's a similar situation to Bishop and Varlamov... Can all these goalies prove they're as good as they were last year? And if Bernier sees so many shots again, he could easily get injured again

Hey now. Dubnyk was more consistent.

Everybody praised Reimer a starter simply because it wasn't Toskala, Raycroft or Gustavsson anymore. All Reimer had to be was average and it was like a breath of fresh air, but in the end he is still average. With that said Gustavssons hockeydb picture has the perfect mix of face of Meth and convicted sex offender.

Calling 2.3 per season a "starter like" contract is 50 shades of ridiculous.

I know a lot of people claim this and that and post this and that, but I have to say this, as I know a lot of NHL players, ex players, the agent for Tyler Seguin, my partner is good friends with Seguin and that younger center who went to Calgary last year and played very well, him and Seguin being beasts from Brampton.

I have to be careful on the social side of the life of a hockey player and stories of that nature etc....

All I will say, is that Kadri is NOT well liked in Toronto, or the rest of the NHL. He is actually more of a pain in the ass, than Evander Kane, who is regarded as pretty strange himself.

The NHL wants highly motivated, on the team page athletes, and 95% of hockey players are pretty much that way. But the remaining five percent are regarded even less now in 2014 than they have for a long time.

Kadri for Kane doesn't solve either teams dilemma, what to do with two great talents who because they hardly train at all, are not very good skaters. Both cheat in their skating, and have huge holes in their skating.

Anyone who keeps proclaiming to have inside knowledge and then proceeds to post known false information is a buffoon.

You should be embarrassed to post this trash.

If TO thought Kadri is so great why is he involved every time you hear a TO proposal?

He is a decent player but Kane is much better. Reimer should not be even involved in the Kane deal. That is just a filler player.

The Jets would be a weaker team with that deal and 29 teams would be drooling at the mouth to play a Pavelec Reimer tandem.

For a fan of a team with a history of mishandling goaltenders... stones... glass house... you know the drill.

I suspect there are teams that question whether they even want Kane and his attitude, let alone considering dumping a truckload of assets for him.

Why not do some investigating and look up Reimer stats over the last two years prier to last year and say that he's been average, last year he had average numbets two yrs prier. ..above average on a poor defensive team..He is a great goalie when given the opportunity

Kessel > P. Kane. And if you disagree with that, you still think it would take 24 other players to equal Kane's value on top of that? Can we overate Kane any more than we already do?
