Why not do some investigating and look up Reimer stats over the last two years prier to last year and say that he's been average, last year he had average numbets two yrs prier. ..above average on a poor defensive team..He is a great goalie when given the opportunity - Daddichronic
The problem with Reimer is that he plays in Toronto: getting outshot historically last season, not getting consecutive starts -- when wholly justified -- several times at the start of the year, Carlyle throwing him under the bus... a fresh start and I think you'll see a consistent starter on another team.
I hope we keep him though: I think a 1A/1B tandem with a better system in front of it is what this team needs. |

The guy played less than 40 games every year, hard to say how he would hold up on any other team for 60+ games(as a starter). Many goalies can put up .914 save percentages playing 35 games a year... not many can do it as a starter, that's why so many teams are struggling.
The fact that many people think Reimer could be a starter, yet keeps ending up being the backup on a team that did not make the playoffs last year is kind of ridiculous. |

Kessel > P. Kane. And if you disagree with that, you still think it would take 24 other players to equal Kane's value on top of that? Can we overate Kane any more than we already do? - SolidGoldBricks
No way. Not the same type of player. Don't want to take away anything from Kessel but Kane is a talented power forward. Kessel is everything but that.
I agree with you, some people are looking to sell the farm to buy the tractor. |

Keeps ending up as a backup? you mean since last year when the leafs acquired a better goalie? Your point about him getting less starts on a team that 'didnt make the playoffs' is the most irrelevant point I have ever heard. Fact is that he is better than Pavelec by quite a bit and WPG didnt make the playoffs either. Guess goalies from non-playoff teams should only be able to get traded to playoff teams. And yes THATS why so many teams are struggling.. nice and vague |

Bit of an exaggeration on my part, but saying that the Leafs as a whole aren't worth P.Kane is a bit wild when the Leafs have a guy like Kessel. I was catching up on the thread and decided this was a good post to respond to, before realizing that it would be page after page of Leafs vs. everyone with lovely rhetoric and buzzwords that make me question which side I'm even on anymore. |

I do agree with you, everyone seems to be offering the moon for Kane. This is far from being the reality though. If GMs had been talking anything close to what some fans were offering, he'd (Kane) have been traded long ago. |

All 183 lbs of him. Great player he is, but power forward he's not.

I think the Leafs will deal Reimer to the Jets for a modest pick/prospect package
Leafs will then peddle a lesser package to Vancouver for Jacob Marskstrom who's 3rd fiddle to Lack and Miller now
It's an 'everyone wins' scenario where Winnipeg gets their guy, Toronto rids themselves of a backup who wants out and replaces him with a younger, cheaper version who is happy to just be a #2 again |

I think we all know that Reimer is going to start the season with the Leafs. |

I dont think Reimer's history in the NHL justifies a "modest" package from any team. Tendy's typically dont bring much in return especially not ones who haven't proved anything in their career. I would say a mid to low level draft pick along with a throw away prospect makes more sense. |

It's really in your best interest to let this one go. He's like a spoiled 4 year old - stops his nonsensical tantrums once you no longer pay attention to him. |

That's exactly the type of return I would consider modest |

That's more likely. Schneider yielded the 'Nucks a first round (9th overall) pick and Schneider was viewed to have a significantly higher ceiling.

okay, just making sure you weren't one of those whose "modest" packages include an E.Kane or Big Buff |

Stop the BS. He's not going anywhere....if the leafs had any semblance of a defensive system, this wouldn't even be a topic of conversation. |
