Rinaldo isn't the best option. He's not a good hockey player. He's in the NHL because, for some reason, Holmgren wanted an agitator on his roster.

I would be perfectly fine with a 4th line of Bellamare Laughton Raffl

And spare me that tripe that the Flyers aren't going to use Laughton on the 4th line. That was one reporter making an assumption.

I have no problem with this as long as he grows with his role. An agitator is a role used on most teams around the league. Fans want the "Enforcer" out. So now the "agitator"?

It is, then he gets mad when people ignore him.

An agitator is fine, as long as he can play. Rinaldo can't play. He's doesn't have the ability to be a productive offensive player(say scoring 10 goals in a season), he's not a good defensive player, he didn't play well in the PK, he hasn't shown any ability to be more than a 4th line meathead.

Carcillo, Roussel, Dorsett-they are agitators who can actually play. That's what the ideal should be

I'd rather they don't. Let him play a ton of minutes in Lehigh if he's going to be on a 4th line with Rinaldo

I'm not gonna say it won't happen but I'm not gonna fool myself into believing that it will. We were having the same conversations last summer. Laughton was a lock right up to opening day, he was introduced to the fans from the bench and sent back to Juniors the next day. It doesn't matter say, nobody saw that coming. People thought he made the team.

Once again, this is on the team. It's on management, the coaching staff. There are available players within this role without a contract. If we have a better fouth line that includes Bellemare, Laughton, Raffl or Akenson, it's possible but yet to be seen.

I think we just need a better hockey player in the lineup. Shouldn't be hard to find.
- BulliesPhan87

Or get Rinaldo to be a smarter and better hockey player. But we didn't see any evidence of that last season. Don't hit just to hit. Take the hit when it's the right play. Pass up a hit on an opportunity when the right play is get back in better position with the scope of team play.

As a 4th line player, I think asking for 10 goals is unreasonable. Asking him to be a better defensive player, isn't.

I don't see him being a better player than he is, especially if Berube is as loathe to scratch him as he was last season. I'm ready to move on now.

I'm blaming the team for that. I'm blaming the team for having limited cap space, which prevents signing guys who aren't under contract.

There's also the likelihood that the Flyers will invite one or more free agents to camp without a deal, like they did with Betts. But right now Rinaldo is under contract, but they have added more options. They might keep him. I personally would not.

I understand that. I agree that he hasn't shown to be anything more then a hitter and an agitator. Really hasn't shown a hint of growth to become a smarter and better player. Maybe he just doesn't have the hockey sense. I would be fine with moving on.

I hate to be so down on the guy, but after last season I really think we need a fourth line that can contribute more than just five minutes (at most) of checking and energy.

I wouldn't break the bank to build the fourth line, but the effect a competent fourth line had on the Rangers really killed the "those minutes are going to our better players" line of logic for me.

An effective 4th line means that your best players don't see as many minutes & as much wear and tear. If your 4th line has a Rinaldo or Rosehill, it's not likely to be able to play 10-12 minutes of effective hockey, night in & night out.

Giving more minutes to your best players is going to happen, but that time accumulates and results in degraded play.

I'm still thinking there is a good chance that Hall is back.

This is fair but I think the club will want to replace whatever expectations they had of him. They've looked into Ott. We've had Downie and Carcillo in the past.
