It will be very difficult to move up into playoffs territory. DET won't lose as many players due to injuries, they should have a better season. Maybe CLB...

Habs may not be a lock as nobody is, its sports ! ... but I'd rather root for a team that missed the playoffs only once in the past decade than root for a team that has made the playoffs once in the past decade, due to a freak shortened season ... don't be jealous leafies ... just change allegiances and root for a winner because the Leafs sure are not winners considering their 3 ring circus the past decade

an LA fan of all people shouldn't under estimate the importance of the bottom 2 lines

More depth on defence and better bottom six. Was never a question of whether we could score or not. Was about whether we could keep the puck out of our net and reduce the 50 shots a game that Bernier faced. I believe we did that and are harder to play against next season.

Montreal is not a lock they got a bit worse and were never a lock to begin with.

Got worse? How? The core is still there, Subban is going nowhere. The kids have another year under their belt. Their signings were very good and filled in the holes that were there last year. Now, I did not like the Gorges trade, but it allows Beaulieu, Tinordi and Pateryn to crack the lineup. The goaltending is second to no one in the league, especially the east. I agree it'll be a battle all season long, but they did not get worse.

They got rid of Gunnarson who wasn't a defensive minded d man and put that meat head Polak back there who is a defensive minded guy. I can't see him being worse than Gunnarson, therefore, they got a bit better simply because of that alone.

they changed both bottom 2 lines and half their defense, but yeah you're right they didn't address a thing

Washington and Jersey both improved. As have the Islanders and Panthers.

And Detroit will come down to how healthy Datsyuk and Zetterberg are.
