Tell that to Colorado, i don't think they minded drafting mackinnon at 18 and watching him year up the league as an 18 year old
- Bigern4MVP

Mackinnon was the youngest (or second youngest) person at the draft. He is something special. I personally like Colorado's center depth better. We have some really good winger prospects which will help us better in our depth.

But I guess I think Colorado has likely top five offences in the league. Hopefully calgary can develop into that and find a starting goaltender.

I hate to say it but I think that if we Mcdavid next year Monohan will be the odd one out. Backlund would be a better third line center.

Cundari signed 2yr/2way.

That leaves just Bouma to sign now, I believe.

I remember all the experts said that Wayne Gretzky would get killed in the NHL playing against grow men, lol. Eric Lindros was huge and tough and he couldn't even stay on the ice. High end skill, passion and grit along with smarts lasts in the NHL. Size means nothing without talent and heart, see Stevie Bernier etc.

I can't believe someone used Bennet in the same sentence as the Great One.

Well I do believe that gretzky is the best player ever. I do think his numbers/records are impossible to break. Across the NHL the 1980s had 30% more scoring compared to 2005-present. The league skill as a whole was not as deep and the game were not as competitive. Now I don't know the best way to analyze this but the only thing that hasn't changed is wins. There was 5 teams with 25 or under wins in 1985. Last year there was one.

Anyway, The only thing I say is that a 50 goal season is a lot closer to a 65 goal season.
His records still would not be broken but they would be at least obtainable.

Monahan would be the odd one out? You just shift bennet to wing you don't get rid of mony

Yea, I agree. Not sure what he was thinking there. It would nust allow us to have our elite players all playing in the top 6

I think Monahan is our 2c, no matter who we draft next, he's such a good 2way player, will have 2 years of NHL centre experience and if he continues to improves his FO% will be a great centre. If we get Eichel/Mcdavid they will most likely come in as our eventual 1c (play sheltered minutes like Monahan at first). Bennett most likely shifts to wing on one of the top 2 lines (christ do we need some right shots).

Baert Mcdavid/Eichel? Bennett
Gaudreau Monahan Poirier

That's starting to look like a real top 6.

I think it'd be a tough sell for Flame fans. Money is like our beacon of hope, he was the guy who let us know that everything was going to be okay. I think he is the future captain of this team and I know I may be overvaluing him, but I do not want to see him traded, ever.

JG, Baert, Klimchuk, Poirer, Bennett? Ya, I'll have my price, but to me Money stays no matter who you're offering.

Why would you trade bennet? The best draft pick the calgary flames have ever had you don't trade

I hope you mean the highest draft pick the Calgary Flames have ever had. It's probably far too early to proclaim him the best.

If la came in and offered us Doughty for Bennett, I'd take that deal. I know I overvalue Monahan, but after so many years of darkness, trading away the one source of light we finally got is unspeakable.

Also I think this years top 4 have a hard time cracking last years top 5. So who knows, Monahan might have been drafted higher than Bennett if they were in the same draft year.

I guess it could be an option but it'd be better to keep the best players, and yea, that may end up not being Mony or Bennett, and use some of the excess wingers to acquire the other needs.

Could be. Last years draft was pretty great in the top 10 at least.

I still can't believe Niskuskin went that low. IMO he was number 5 in talent. However, he plays RW and it is a less influential position (and has the russian factor). Not sure why Vancouver or Buffalo didn't take him.

However the biggest steal in the draft is Mantha. Stupid redwings.

Hey Colin
What are your thought about Ortios contract? Apparently the 2nd year is a 1 way.
What does that mean for our three goalies?

Can anyone explain how this changes sending someone down to the ahl? Do they have to clear waivers or is there an age rule where they don't go through waivers (I recall something like this)
