As it stands, MTL needs another top 6 winger ( Sekac isn't a top 6 NHL winger). Moving AG to the center position would create another void on the wing. A void that Bourque, Weise, Prust and co. shouldn't be stepping into. - WaterBoy

Eller sucks on the wing.
Eller's stron gin the faceoff circle.
Give him decent wingers ( EGG line ?) and he might just get everybody on that line in the 50 points range. - WaterBoy
Exactly.

I don't think it should be automatic in your mind that it's not happening. If Galchenyuk manages to force his way into the middle, it'll be to play in the top six, and the top six will get better if they trade one of Eller, Desharnais or Plekanec. I don't envision that necessarily happening out of training camp, but I can see it as a reality at some point this season. - EricEngels
Galchenyuk could spot 50-60 pts if playing with gallagher and the top6 winger we'd get for Plekanec.
That being said, 70 pts is unrealistic considering Pacioretty and DD will get the biggest part of PP time with PK and Markov.
So if Galchenyuk plays center, only with that i will be satisfied. If he plays great already and put 50 pts as a second center, i will be more then happy. |

The Habs collective group of forwards as we speak is not very strong. We need to add a top 6 forward who can pot 25-30 goals. This team is just a bunch of 2nd line players with an outstanding goalie and a super star d man who has not signed yet. - mushalain1
Agreed.
But Galchenyuk can be that guy not this season but next.
Trade Plekanec + for a strong top 6 left winger to play with Galchenyuk and Gallagher and the top 6 looks pretty strong.

that's the point of needing Galchenyuk to bust through. Currently, Montreal's middle is very balanced with no standouts. But AG can be a standout... - EricEngels
How do you feel about him not playing centre in 4 seasons? |
