I'm thinking the Top 6, Bottom 6 is becoming more and more obsolete.
It's more a top 9 and a checking line. If you look at the ice time Desharnais, Eller and Plekanec got last season (and in the playoffs), they were all pretty even.
Even strength TOI in the regular season:
Eller, 13:26
Desharnais, 14:22
Plekanec, 14:53

I think a decent little amount. 2 years at 5m isnt a bad contract to absorb for a team looking to upgrade their 2C position.

As it stands, MTL needs another top 6 winger ( Sekac isn't a top 6 NHL winger). Moving AG to the center position would create another void on the wing. A void that Bourque, Weise, Prust and co. shouldn't be stepping into. |
