Make it so that a GM cannot trade a player with a NTC until the paper is signed. Make it so that a player can only be traded if he signs the paper.

So players would no longer ask to be traded, or if they want out so bad, it's none of their businesses where they go.

I don't see what's complicated with this.

You can claim a GM will make his life miserable. What's he gonna do? Cut his ice time? Bench him? Well the reason he's wanting a trade is because that probably already happened. If the GM wants to trade him, it's probably because he's not performing.

No, it still says that if a player asks for a trade, it has to be formal if he wants to be traded and he can go to which ever 29 teams the GM chooses.

I don't understand all this aguments about NTC NMT etc...

A player, as any workingman, has a familly to sustain and if he wants to have a word to say about what will be the living environment he will provide to his family...then it's all good for me.

Even if he ask for a trade... we are not talking about cattle...

Anyway, if he's too picky about where he's going to be traded then he just makes it harder for his owner to find him a new team and he risk to not have his wish to be traded fulfilled

The NTC is a provision for the player, not the team, why should any employee have to give up a contractual right?

BTW I liked this quote from Subban «We hope it continues, but at the end of the day I have to leave that to my agent to get a deal done that's suitable not only for myself but for the hockey club

For those who think that he only want to press the fruit to get all the juice for himself... reading this makes me think that he is aware that his contract could handcuff his GM if he's too hungry. Subban is a a wiseman and i'm sure he wants to be surrounded with quality player to win it all

You do realize that PK is coached by his agent on what to say to the media, right? He's not going to say he wants every single penny he can get and doesn't care how much he will handcuff the team.

you realize working men are transferred from city to city all the time, right? with little choice unless they're willing to quit.

Should a team be penalized for trying to trade a player with a NTC?

Aren't they limited to the teams the player agrees to go to?

Then what does he get ? Does he sign for 2 yrs to take him to a UFA, or go for an 8 yr deal ?

Right, and that is my point... if you don't like the city where your boss want to send you you always have the choice to say no... maybe it means that you will have to find another job but you have that choice...

If my boss tells me that I'm transfered downtown NewYork, take it or leave it, I put my keys on the desk right away... I choose my living environment and everybody else should be able to make that choice... proathlete or not

I don't think the habs should be penalized for trying to trade Gorges to Toronto, a team on his NT list, any more so than a player should be penalized for asking for a trade under any circumstances.
