anything around 8 I'll be very happy with. Especially if it's for 6+ years.

Was reported he was looking at 10 a season correct for max term (if those reports were legitmate) so I think it ll be between 8.5 and 9.5 if it's long term. I maintained I think be just over 9 cap hit if it's long term deal. I would imagine the talks must be pretty consistently going on at this point.

Based on his play, 26 points in 77 games while being a -15, I'd say he still looks concussed from the Gryba hit

Nobody is calling him a bust of an NHL player, or saying he's hit his peak yet. But offense just isn't his strong suit. Blame it on line mates, blame it on ice-time, on being scratched. The point is when you watch him play he doesn't have finish to his game, it's just not there. Maybe he'll be able to improve on it, but right now he brings almost nothing offensively to the table, and so there's no point in putting him in a role where it's expected of him.

Last point, young players who work their way into the top 6 offensively do it when they're given a chance to show they deserve it. Justifying his lack of production because he hasn't been given a solid spot with top 6 minutes makes no sense, he's not going to be handed one until he starts to impress when he's occasionally put in a position to do so.

Edit: Bottom line is, at this point there are other wingers who deserve to be given a crack at a top 6 spot to show they can perform there. Bournival had opportunities last year, and didn't make the most of them. Sure, give him another shot at some point, but I'd rather see some other young guys get a look who haven't before.

guys... He's 22, Jesus give him a break... He's fastest on the team and is pretty smart defensively out there with an excellent work ethic, those are quality assets for an NHLer he can definitely grow! If he was in Hamilton, he'd be a very interesting prospect and now he's on the habs alot of you seem to act like he's garbage (not necessarily your post, just speaking generally). He'll become an effective 3rd liner with maybe even a potential for fringe 2nd liner. I would put him ahead Bourque instantly if Bourque goes back to Season-bourque
