And Tampa signed Ryan Callahan. same thing.
- JVR_42_PK81

Don't EVER compare Ryan Callahan to David Clarkson again. Callahan is tiers ahead of Clarkson and is worth every penny of his contract. He's actually a top-6 winger capable of consistently scoring 20+ goals and was an NHL captain. David Clarkson is an above-average bottom-6 winger at best.

Yes one hot playoff run of being a top 4 d man totally covers for his past 6 years in the bottom 6.
- JVR_42_PK81

Except that his possession numbers have been fantastic for a long, long time. His three year WOWYs with his partner, Staal, are telling: http://stats.hockeyanalys...ue&season=2011-14&sit=5v5

And his 5v5 numbers overall have been stellar for at least the last two: https://twitter.com/ToddC...status/492115635594199040

Exactly.....plenty of Tampa Fans trolled the Rangers when they were still in the playoff's....
- Jeropotato

Tampa fans loved tallying Callahan's points and comparing them to MSL's points after every regular season game after the deadline....that ended real quick once the playoffs started

I've been doing some research on Stralman's advanced stats. I learned that you're using them incorrectly, and you're supposed to use "Close" stats only because they're more accurate and then compare that against QoC. I believe Stralman had the easiest QoC compared to our top 4 D by a significant amount. He will be a great #4 defender for you guys though for sure.

His QoC was essentially the same as Staal's this year: http://www.extraskater.co...s=D&sort=qoc_toi&team=nyr

Stralman is a member of the Lightning. Stamkos is a member of the Lightning. If other fans want to chime in, that's great. I'm sure Vancouver fans will chime in when I talk about Garrison, too.
- Michael_Stuart

Michael I like your writing and generally agree with your opinions, I am not trying to knock you. I understand its the off season and you gotta write stories, I understand that other teams will come and fill the board, but I also understand there is a lot more to talk about with the Lightning. It seems since July 1st its been nothing but Stralman and then Stamkos after he favored a tweet.

Just asking you change it up, so how about you leave the Stralman blog on the back burner for a week and lets talk Drouin, who and how will our RW fill out, expectations of the power play with the added shot of Garrison. Does Cooper continue with his 11-7 alignment then which forwards pull double duty, etc. Im all for the Nuckers coming to talk hockey, Im for the Leafs and Ranger fans talking hockey but for some reason these two players currently don't allow that, it turns into bickering. RANT OVER MOVING ON.

So with that lets talk Bolts, any teams fans chime in. What kind of expectations do you have for Drouin? I say 50pts is doable but is that asking too much, I would expect him to get 14 minutes a night for the first few months shifting amongst lines 1 and 3, I wonder if he figures it out by Christmas and is the 1st line on Stamkos LW.

And on Johnson, I would love for him to C the third line but is that feasible, I think our RW is weak and he fits on that top line there. I don't see any player on our roster playing that top line RW better then Johnson, but I also don't see anyone being 3rd line C better then Johnson. That RW is going to be tricky for the Bolts, only certainty is Callahan on the 2nd line with Filppula.

Every passionate fanbase would get defensive/pissed if it was being speculated that their star player might leave as a UFA or is demanding a trade(MSL).

We know, last summer everyone told us Hank, Girardi and Callahan were all leaving us

I love Stralman

I've got more on him coming up soon.

Then there'll be stuff on Nabokov, Boyle, Garrison, Drouin, Bishop, etc.

- Michael_Stuart

I can't wait, though I don't remember you waxing poetic about him during the season

Stralsy is a solid younger defensman that I would have liked to have kept because I don't believe in fixing what ain't broke, that was as solid a six as there is in the league, they still are but Stralman would have been around longer, that being said he owes this contract to the Rangers, if he wasn't plucked off waivers he'd probably be back in Sweden right now

MCD's? Nope I don't think so. I'm a full time firefighter. Rile people up? Sorry if saying that the reality is Stamkos could very well leave. He could very well stay. Just saying it's not impossible like all Tampa fans say.
- JVR_42_PK81

Sure and we could get Crosby it's not impossible!

I think in future Stralman blogs, you should use the advanced stats more accurately. They need to be adjusted for zone starts and should only use "Close" (1 goal game or tie game) situations. Stralman still has unbelievable Corsi, however his QoC is adjusted a lot more accurately.

Simply put: in the past 2 seasons, he's faced the easiest competition out of any other defender on our team while Staal has faced the 2nd hardest. Just last season alone, he faced the 4th hardest competition out of anybody on our team while Staal again faced the 2nd hardest.

Do you think Stamkos parents will shed happy tears the first time he dons the Leafs jersey for a regular season Leaf game?

Yes when stamkos is 39 years old he will start playing there

Pretty sure the difference between Torontos chances of winning a Cup and Tampa's chances of winning is what team Stamkos is on. Stamkos jumps ship and so does the "chances of winning". Figured this would be common sense at this point, but it's good to see athletes in the media aren't the only ones spitting cliches that are out dated.
- systemtool

This is the nhl not the nba sir one player does not make a cup
