Word to the wise Leafs fans, Tampa fans get very touchy when one of their players chooses another city over theirs, also they said Marty wasn't going anywhere either

Quick change the subject.....Corsi Corsi Corsi blah blah blah Corsi

Im not saying its a hundered percent chance hes coming here. Im just saying under the circumstances its very possible. Im just tired of hearing Tampa fans saying there is no chance that he leaves Tampa to come here to make themselves feel better.
- JVR_42_PK81

I said 10 percent chance to the leafs 90 percent to tampa.

Why? Because its a very possible chance? Tampa fans try and shut it down as soon as they hear it.

Every passionate fanbase would get defensive/pissed if it was being speculated that their star player might leave as a UFA or is demanding a trade(MSL).

Would you not do the same next summer if it was speculated that Kessel wanted to play in the States if the Leafs miss the playoffs next year and the heat gets turned up on him even more so?

The chance of him coming to Tornto is possible. So is staying in Tampa. Im not ignorant like you though and say its no chance he leaves Tampa.

When have I? All I've said is that it is 2 years away and I won't fret about it until then. Get a (frank)ing clue and stop painting with such a wide brush.

I would be worried. I was worried he was going to leave us in UFA.

I'm just in shock I'm already hearing this with two years left on his contract. If stamkos is not signed by June 2016 I will get really worried then. Until then buzz off leaf fans. Draft your own players let shanny fire Nonis and build a team! And fire that sorry coach of yours. Make that wiz kid you just hired your gm over Nonis. With the talent you guys have you should be at least making the playoffs.

it was a dumb line of questioning to begin with and he handled it well.

Toronto fans/media play the same speculation game with us regarding Tavares.

Annoying as it may be, it's just a bunch of wishful chirping. They don't seem realize that "everyone doesn't want to play for Toronto." Stamkos has played his arse off for you guys—every team should be so lucky...

If he leaves (the non St. Louis way) good luck and god speed to him. We don't have the depth to replace a Stamkos, but we will still be a strong competitive team in the NHL.

He handled it well. This story keeps his profile high, while he stays mysterious and aloof, and get some web hits with his name and his team's name. Any publicity is good, right?
All the while keeping as many doors open as possible.

Let the Leaf fans dream a bit (I'm one and would love for him to come here but, he could just be trolling his Leaf fan buddies) and let Lightning management realize they can't take him for granted and get the cheque book ready.

The boards have been talking about this all week and some people seem to have their panties in a knot about it. Leaf fans freaking over the possibility and Leaf haters who can't / won't admit that he just might want to think about playing for the leafs. Not bad for mid-July when there is zero hockey to discuss. The hockey sites and Canadian sports media (basically hockey sites) are loving the traffic.

Really nobody knows what he's going to do. Probably not even Stamkos himself. He doesn't have to think about it seriously for at least a year. Messing with the fans and the media in the meantime sounds kinda fun. You can think of every reason he may stay or go, but you don't know what he really thinks. Keeping those cards close to his chest will likely increase his payday. Anybody other than Steven himself who claims to know what's going to happen one way or the other is just blowing smoke and their arguments are invalid.

Any number of scenarios could unfold between now and 2016. Until then enjoy the story and speculation while we wait for some actual hockey.

I want to know this as well ? It's not often I agree with you but yes I really agree here! There FA target was a 38 year old Dan Boyle and the leafs could not get him.
