Willie saying Kassian learning from Burrows to improve consistency is spot on. Kassian would be a beast with a Burrows mentality(insert hair-pulling joke here). I think he's gonna start them with Bonino, at least to open camp.

Burrows has been the model of consistency the last couple of seasons.

In term of work-ethic, yes. He doesn't have the size/talent of Kassian though.

Truth is for a couple of seasons he played at a top 6 level with the Sedins and that's it. He was a 3rd liner without the Sedins and recently that's where he looks like he needs to return to. I know his story and all but he has been anything but a consistent top six player in his career. I mean, his role seems to be in question.... how can this be from a consistent player?

Kassian doesnt play a defensive game. He's not one of our top PP guys. Burrows work ethic stands out because of it. Hard for Kassian to find common ground on consitency... although Kassian does have to find away to be at least as gritty as Burrows.

Every dog has his day. As you get older, in most every case, you have to accept a lesser role. Burrows is 33, his days are numbered.

Pretty expensive 3rd liner - time to move him for a pick. 2nd rounder next year?

Could we say the same for the Sedins? They are 8 months older, or is there a Sweden wish exemption to this rule?

I hope Tor-uh-he who shall not be named makes it back as an NHL head coach so we can hear the audio of Burrows talking trash to him in the way back to the bench.

No. As opposed to Burrows, the Sedins play an extremely cerebral game based purely on hockey sense and positional play(more-so Henrik). Due to this they don't need to rely on speed and grit. Attributes which decline in relation to age ala Burrows.

I still believe that they will ultimately retire as top six forwards be it on the first or second line.

Yes you could, that said, they are in a completely different category in terms of skill-set and style of game. They're the engine that make this team go! This year will be a telling sign as to where they are as the current management team is much more in tune with the strength's and weaknesses of the players on the team.

I think you'll see them be 60 to 70 point players, which is perfectly fine considering their age and the fact that only 49 players had 60 or more points last year in the league.
