I find it hilarious that it's always a Leafs fan that brings up Gomez trade...
I guess Andrew Raycroft must be pretty Vezina worthy... |

You guys always just talk about other random stuff whenever I prove a point and win an argument with facts!!
the Leafs have been sooooo bad for soooo long. As usual you play the "I'm offended and angry but I'm gonna act like I'm not" card to try and deflect. - woopstash
dude up until last year, the hawks had the least amount of cups of the original 6.
Were the hawks not miserable for a decade as well? How did they get to draft Toews and Kane? right they were the worst team in the league. 2007 was not that long ago |

2007 was not long ago...
1967 sure as hell was though! And it also took more than beating 5 other teams for these Hawks to win their Cups recently.
(frank), a team has a harder time winning a Grey Cup than they did winning a Cup in the original 6 days! |

if you had a choice, you HAVE to do one of the below:
1) sign jeff finger to 3.5M or whatever it was
2) take on Gomez' awful contract (100 times worse than finger's contract) AND give up McDonaugh
please remind me how i lose? i told you there is nothing worse than that trade, nice try though. now stop trolling and quit wasting our time unless you can post something sensible. - sensnucksnocups
At least with Gomez we HAD illusion of him still be a quality player? |

This comment is funny coming from a Fylers fan, the team who has given out the worst contracts EVER! |

That's the funny part. They bring up past trades and think we can't do the same. |

This will end up being a pretty good deal in 3 years when Eller hits his prime and his cap hit will be considered a joke. |

Which, by the way, is still not as bad as the Gomez trade. |

so why did the hawks only win the cup 3 times in 39 years of original 6 era?
couldnt have been too easy. |

what about tom kurvers for the pick that turned out to be Niedermeyer? |

He is mascerading as a hawks fan, with an obvious dislike for the leafs for some reason. Must be from montreal or ottawa |

That's pretty bad for sure. Long time ago, but pretty bad. Tough to compare given one was pre-salary cap, but given the issues in a cap era Gomez and his contract caused, probably still not as bad. We'll have to see if mcdonagh can continue on his path as one of the best dmen in the league though. |

Probably not. Eller is third or fourth line material and that's not gonna change. Guys like that can be bought pretty cheap. Salaries are escalating, but more so for good players than run of the mill ones. |

At least they don't celebrate losing with fire works. - SPIDEROCKSTAR
Who did that? I'm guessing this is some stupid crack. So if it is, save it, and I'll refrain from posting a pic of habs fans jumping on burning cop cars and labelling that fireworks. Okay? |

I'd rather have Turris @ 3.5 - ...sbs138...
No one cares about Turris. He's the best Centre the Sens have and that in itself is pathetic. That's a basement team with a throw away roster if I've ever seen one. My biggest concern with the Sens is they may get a solid shot at Connor McDavid. |

Tough to compare, sure. Not as bad, no way. Niedermeyer has won multiple awards, trophie and championships. While I believe McDonagh is a great defenseman and will be for his entire career, I doubt he'll match Niedermeyer's resume. |

3rd line yes, 4rth line? no. He has yet to reach his stride. He has also proven his playoff worth. |

Sure. Kurvers was never a major liability to the leafs though. Gomez was. As I say, if mcdonagh continues on this path, Gomez deal is worse. Don't kid yourself, that is, so far, the worst trade of the salary cap era. |

Blah blah blah, reach his stride, blah blah blah. Been seeing projections on eller for years about 50 points and crap like that. He's just not that good. How old is he now? 25? |

Nobody is accusing him of being Gretzky here. He may not be that good but he is not that bag either. If he gets consistent he can easily put up 40-50 points. Also his playoff performance speaks for itself. Point is, I've seen way more dollars for worse players. I don't know why all the hoopla over this deal. |
