The 3.1 was a one year deal. He signed a 4 year deal and 2 of those years eat into his UFA years. So of course he is going to want more money AAV to sign longer term.

I totally get it. But normally we see players take less term for more money or more term for less money. But i think MB doesn't want a PK situation again where he sign Eller cheap on a 2 year deal and he breaks out put big numbers and then need to gives more then he would have had to if he signed him on longer term in the beginning.
