On the topic of TMNT, anyone with Netflix needs to look up Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I thoroughly enjoyed that doc. Gets a lot of wheels spinning, pushes the nostalgia button and has me quite apathetic towards the new flick.
Also, I get that CGI was a cheaper option, but if Hollywood had just spent the time and money to evolve animatronic technology instead of purely abandoning it for CGI, the poop they could accomplish these days would be out of this world!

Wrong guy to ask, but if you do go the Lego route make sure it's something the kid can put together...some of the star wars lego things I've seen seem aggressive.
