The Spectrum was so loud on Daigneault's goal, you couldn't even hear him if he was saying anything
- Jsaquella

Yup, I was there and it was as loud as a metal concert!

My friend played goalie for our soccer team. We played some pretty awful teams, so he wouldn't see much action during those games. He was known for being a bit strange, but he ordered a pizza during the game. No one even noticed he was on the phone. The pizza guy delivered it to him in net. Our coach was pretty angry

The funniest part is that he didn't even tell anyone. The pizza guy just showed up and no one noticed until the parents all began laughing.

Thanks for the blog, Bill.

For the person reminiscing about Game 6 in 87, you must have been listening on the radio as Emrick and Clement were the TV guys that year.

And, of course, most of us heard this:

for the first time on the "God Bless the Flyers" record album since we watched the game on NBC.

My favorites:

"Shot...Score!"
"They poke at it!"
"They're passing it with alacrity."

Also, I remember the Game 2 OT goal by Clarke.

The person who mentioned the transistor radio to hear the west coast games brought back some memories. I, too, would try to stay up past my bedtime and put the radio under my pillow to secretly listen to the games until I couldn't stat awake any longer. I would wake up listening to loud static as during the course of sleeping the dial would move off of the station. I did the same for the Phillies.

He taught the city of Philadelphia about the game.

As a side, when did Harry Kalas become "Harry the K"? Definitely after 1997.

I can see it all now, this is gonna be just like last summer. You fell in love with that girl at the Fotomat, you bought forty dollars worth of (frank)in' film, and you never even talked to her. You don't even own a camera.

Game 2 OT goal: At that moment we knew the Cup was a strong possiblity. Memory is fading but it was a brutal hard fought game.

I stand corrected. I was watching ESPN, I guess.

They became the broadcast team in 1988.

In the same vein as "back to the studio" vs. broadcast team at intermissions, I largely dislike playoff hockey being covered by national commentators. Imagine Gene Hart not making the TV call for Game 6 versus Boston, so that every tape/DVD/etc. of it had some random national guy.
