I like some country. When i was in the Navy, my roomie for school was from Tennessee. He got me into it a little, stuff like Garth, Hank Jr, Brooks & Dunn...my wife and her friends are really into it, so I've listened to a lot of it, but not really a huge fan.

But I enjoyed the music we saw at the festival, so I've been listening to some of the bands we saw. Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Eric Paslay(who sort of looks like Giroux with a playoff beard), Randy Houser.

It has struck me that most of today's country is sort of like Bon Jovi with a twang

But I will add Denver to my list of stuff to check out, because I'm always open to new music.

Dierks is my favorite current mainstream country guy. My (eldest) brother played one of his songs, I hated it , but then I loved it. Started liking country after that

Being a huge VH fan, the 5150 song struck a chord...He put on a great show. Paisley was really entertaining as well. Hank Jr closed the last night and he was amazing.

I didn't recommend them to you so shut up Chuck

Edit: but bands who have names like yes and rush pass this so called name test?

chilling!

in my opinion, bands such as boston, kansa, europe, asia, and the like are generally not good. there's an exception here and there.

i've never heard denver. they probably eat cheeseballs for breakfast.

Yeesh...country just isn't my thing. I hate twang. In fact, I hardly listen to The Eagles because of their heavy country sound.

I even stay away from a few of Elton's new albums because they're too damn twangy sometimes.

For whatever reason, it gets to me.

The first day, that we saw, was Eric Paslay, Brantley Gilbert & Bentley. Second day was Cadillac Three, Charlie Worsham, Leah Turner, Craig Morgan, Houser and Paisley and the last day was Chase Rice, Thomas Rhett, Thompson Square and Hank Jr.

It's the Taste Of Country Festival at Hunter Mountain in New York. Next year is going to be Tim McGraw.

I get that, for sure. I've always had some "twang" in my playlists, Creedence, Cash, Buffet...never really liked the Eagles, which is a big joke with my family because of my love for The Big Lebowski & the Dude's hatred of the Eagles.

Some of it is definitely too much for me, though.

I have most of Plant's later day stuff. I have issues with him singing it. I can't get past the Zeppelin

I like a lot of his post Zep stuff...Loved The Honeydrippers, the early to mid 90's stuff and the Plant Page tours. The stuff with Band of Joy and Krauss is good, I just hear him singing the bluegrass stuff and it just don't mesh...it's good, but for whatever reason I get it caught in my head.

Still an awesome singer, even at his age. I got the Zeppelin "Celebration Day" CD/DVD, where the surviving guys played at O2 in 2007 or 08 with Jason Bonham on drums and Plant was fantastic. Page wasn't as sharp, but it was good stuff

why would you think of us in connection to those things? they remind of you (frank)wick stats?

what did she get? does mr. tangent_man approve?

- hammarby31

It's a nice car. I approve, mainly because she can sync her phone and talk hands free now. She has no idea they created voicemail for a reason; if it rings, she will answer it, no matter when.

OK, once in a while she doesn't answer.
