I'd do that trade in a heartbeat

So, basically, Jordan Staal for Evander Kane.

Agree 100% and it doesn't have to be E. Kane, just someone with more skill. Nino, Okposo, Grabner.
- sammy87

If a Martin for Nino + trade somehow happens and Nino works out in the Burgh, I feel like everyone advocating this trade should get together, have a beer, and pat themselves on the back.

Still, its refreshing that the new trade darling is actually acquirable instead of everyone trying to sell Winnipeg scraps for Evander Kane.

Good to see some changes throughout the organization. What worries me is that a lot of people laughed at the talent pool that is the Penguins offensive prospects. We all knew it was bad but not this bad.

What do you mean? Our prospects aren't bad, the couple we have are pretty solid.

Now all we have to do is get Rutherford to read the comments section of hockeybuzz and plant the seed.

What are you talking about? Beau Bennett is still technically a prospect, and we also have two other blue chip forward prospects in Kapanen and Bryan Rust.

Rutherford doesn't know what a "tweet" but if you tweet at him, be prepared for a restraining order.

This may sound quite dumb as we are not professional hockey executives, but many of us think the top 6 still has work to be done so I'm curious as to how many of our assistant GM's agree with that, if any. I'd think at least one of them would be aggressively pursuing options. On the other hand, maybe Rutherford put a nix on it and said lets take a wait and see approach.

Lastly, Sutter and Spaling need to be worked out before anything else can happen. Still think Sutter may not be a Penguin this year.

Haha, I expect nothing less.

Get Hayes in here and I'll be happy with our forward prospects.

I always thought it was because Malkin was self conscious over how his English sounded.
- Guile

I'm sure that's part of it.

There is nothing about him that strikes me as a leader other than going out, playing hard, and producing points (i.e. leading by example).

Higher home attendance Last year than: Jersey, Winnipeg (duh), Columbus, Islanders, Dallas, Florida, Arizona.

So, like, 20.

Ah, forgot about the Staal's extended family having season tickets there.

Just imagine how big that will get once they secure another Staal from the Rangers... The family won't have to split up between games, that'll make it FORTY season ticket holders.

I live in Raleigh and there's more Cane's fans than most think (I almost wrote "Kane" ...geez).

It's really nice watching Pens games here though as there are usually just as many Pens fans as Canes fans.

It's a much bigger fan-base than a lot of people think. Problem is so many of them have become disheartened with the performances of late. Fresh perspective throughout the organization should help.

Gotta be more positive man... if those Staal boys all get married (I don't know their status) that could double or triple that doubled number... That could make it over a hundred if they are lucky!

edit: enjoy that math bud :D

Yea, there is certainly a lot of "I dont know what a puck is, but we won a Cup in '06" type of fans here.

Same deal with the fans in Nashville and Tampa. The Pens game last November was over by the third and the place looked like the Igloo with all the black and gold. Both fan bases are strong, Pitt just has a huge amount of transplants throughout the country from the early '80's.

Team doesn't suck anywhere near enough to win the lottery, but just enough to pick 5th to 14th every year...
