That's complete bullpoop.

we as fans really cannot say because we know nothing about other teams' prospect systems. to be honest, we don't know much about our own prospect systems.

I thought any ex Leaf was awesome (Macca, Grabbo, Kuli, Steen, Earl, Mitchell, Schenn) and players only come to T.O. to die.

There was a guy the other day asking who is going to replace Jay McClement. The guy was pissed because we let Jay McClement go. JAY MCCLEMENT. Who will possibly replace him? Will someone please think of the children.

I picked Glucky, cuz he can skate fast, but can't stop yet and that could cause all kinds of mayhem out there.

never said that, but thanks. what i'm saying is the hockey news is pretty damn legit and has been around forever. It's the #1 hockey publication

i see, i re-read, you mean they watch the games and give their 2 cents..

well considering the leafs have one of the deepest D pools of prospects i think its inaccurate.

i think our D pool is solid. I mentioned Finn and Percy, granberg has potential.

It's the mckegg's, biggs, ross' that no one should be excited about.

nono he watches the games, he said so.

I fail to see how we can be ranked as the second worst system when our AHL team, made up mainly of prospects, comprised predominantly of kids born in 1990 or after, just went the the AHL conference final.

And that's without guys like Brown, Loov, Nilsson, Nylander, Finn, Bibeau etc who all have very favourable scouting reports....

some good young pieces on the squad, nylander, hopefully one of percy or finn turns out. Other than that, the organization is in shambles. Prospects are amongst the worst in the league, team is amongst the worst in the league. A top 5 pick seems the only answer. For that reason i like it.
- clark_griswold

How do you figure that?

i don't think those rankings look at depth as much as high end prospects.

On the other end of the spectrum is the re-signing of Komarov, who's absence last year was the sole reason for missing the playoffs.

To be fair the finnish jonathan toews is awesome

my guess? if used correctly we could see 30-40 points out of either of them

a major step up for the leafs third line from recent years

- Dozzer

I see our bottom 2 lines putting up these kind of points

fix our 2nd line and our D. we should be okay

Even than their rankings are about as legit as NHL 14.

but you can always check out the hockey news prospect review where the leafs were 29th ranked if you want to save time. It is what it is, i hope we win the cup but im not going to claim we have a sick future when we don't.
- clark_griswold

so the hockeynews sets the rankings and thats the be all end all?

thats ridiculous.. different teams draft for different things.. i bet a ton of teams would LOVE to have toronto's d-man depth

also, the marlies are a constant AHL title threat, always at the top of their division so that tells me more than what a"panel of scouts" think.

and oh wait.. the OHL scoring champ is a leaf prospect too... yeah.. the leafs are in tough

you want to base your opinion on one article in the hockey news go ahead.. but you're gonna get called out for it.

thank you lums, and i agree, makes no sense.

i admit our cupboard is low for high end forwards, but our D prospects are great...goalies are not bad either.

It has been a while since we even had some depth, now have to work on the elite. We take what we can get compared to about 5 years ago.

I try and keep up as much as I can. Obviously I can't pretend to know as much as the professionals, but I do have very high hopes for a good number of the guys in the system (I do try and follow the Leafs prospects through the CHL, AHL as best as I can via all available information; thanks interwebs!)

You can take over the Kadri role of skating into the goalie! It'll allow him to focus on putting the puck into the net, rather than the goalie

Macwilliam should make it in to the NHL. He can hit. He's very phisical. Should be a solid bottom pairing d man. Rinat Viliav is pretty good too. I like to use Hockeys future to see how good each prospect is.

it's one writer or is it a group of 17 scouts and NHL gms? it's not the be all end all but it's a credible source. I also watch but i guess i must be wrong.

Being a Toronto fan is awesome.

Our best players suck. Kessel is useless. Phaneuf couldn't play on the 3rd pairing on a lot of teams.

But Komarov was the reason we missed the playoffs last year.
